The Williams-Sonoma Technology organization is seeking an energetic, capable and seasoned engineering leader to build, manage and mentor an extremely talented team of Analytics, Insights and Machine Learning engineers and Data Scientists to deliver a best-in-class cross-brand cross-channel Analytics Technology Platform. The ideal candidate would have the ability to attract, recruit and retain the industry's best talent and have the technical chops to effectively influence/participate in architectural discussions, strategic planning, roadmaps and decisions to ensure we build impactful, compelling and scalable solutions in an incremental fashion, unlocking hyper-growth, data driven decision making and creating a world of possibilities for our customers/business. Success in the role requires strategic and innovative thinking, a proven track record of delivering new customer-facing software products at scale, rigorous analytical skills, and a passion for automation and data-driven approaches to solving problems.
Here's what you will do...
• Own and drive the enterprise's current and future analytics technology strategy from concept to mainstream through ONE cohesive, seamless platform at various levels of sophistication including
• Scheduled and On-Demand Reporting
• Business Intelligence
• Predictive Modeling/Insights
• Prescriptive Modeling/Insights & Automated Feedback/Action Loop
• Build a highly scalable, flexible and capable Analytics & Data Science Sandbox / Workspace for both business and technical users to
• Connect and wrangle data from one or more ad-hoc sources
• Join, query and analyze disparate data sets
• Build and run ad-hoc models and experiments using standardized tools
• Consistently measure the impact of updated models vs. existing ones (A/B test)
• CI/CD pipeline to incrementally test and promote models through environments all the way to Production
• Closely work with Business, Operations, Product, Program, and other Technology stakeholders and partners to execute a timely but smooth journey of digital transformation for the company in the field of Analytics & Data Science
• Play a big role in transforming Williams-Sonoma Inc. into a technology hub that envisions and delivers the future of omnichannel retail with innovative AI/ML/DS solutions by hiring top talent and building a strong lasting presence in the technology community

• Kick off, plan, execute and deliver large-scale, cross-team initiatives & programs
• Absorb a general business problem/opportunity and translate it into an analytic activity
• Manage and mentor a large team of engineers, engineering managers, and technical leads and significantly contribute to their professional growth and success
• Consistently lead by example, be a role model and change agent for your associates and the larger technology team
• Drive an outcome/impact-based culture and implement methodologies to get us there
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Here's what you will have...
• 12+ years of overall experience in developing technology solutions and managing multiple active tracks. Prior experience with Retail, eCommerce or Supply Chain domains is a plus
• 5+ years of experience building and managing a medium scale (10-20) team of engineers, leads, and managers. Track record of balancing workforce between core vs. flex, associates vs. contractors is a plus
• Ph.D. in a technical field (engineering, science, math, statistics etc.) highly desired
• Ability to matrix manage projects from beginning lifecycle to completion
• Strong project management skills with the ability to lead technical professionals
• Ability to systematically gather relevant information from different sources to address an issue and make a prompt and insightful decision
• Excellent organizational and leadership skills
• Ability to build constructive business relationships and gain the trust of others
• Demonstrated ability to anticipate, mitigate, and resolve conflicts across workgroups.
• Proven experience in developing and executing plans, project financials, meeting deadlines and operating under tight time constraints
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated experience in making articulate and effective oral presentations to different audiences
• Excellent interpersonal skills including such areas as team spirit, negotiation, collaboration, pitching in where needed, and respecting individuals at all levels
• Demonstrated ability to negotiate and manage external vendors
• Self-motivated and able to work independently
• Ability to work collaboratively and influence others within a matrix environment
• Comfortable with some ambiguity and calculated risk-taking, as these are cutting edge areas and this is a new role within the organization
