Position Description
Walmart’s Marketing organization is evolving to the next generation, with a focus on providing the best online and in store experience for customers. Marketing leads planning and strategy development, customer journey, communications, as well as in store and online experience for the 140 million U.S. customers that shop at Walmart every week. Whether in store or online Walmart is serving customers’ changing needs of retail.
As the Director of Retail Marketing, you will develop omnichannel marketing plans and strategies for our new Walmart credit card business. This is a unique opportunity for an innovative and strategic full stack marketer who has strong digital acumen to make an impact on a large scale with teams that will forever alter the landscape of retail & eCommerce. We are ideally looking for 8+ years of marketing experience, with 2-3 years minimum credit card marketing, including credit card acquisition and cardholder lifecycle marketing, preferred. Annual Operating Plan: Drafts annual operating plan (AOP) based on review of data sets and associated insights, researching trends, and identifying competitor strategic dynamics.
Budget Management: Prioritizes monitors and enforces complex campaign budgets and resolves concerns to ensure fiscal discipline aligned to overall marketing strategy. Approves budget tradeoffs and reallocation based on knowledge of other marketing/ branding priorities/initiatives.
Collaboration: Collaborates with cross-functional teams (e.g., Creative, Media, Operations, Merchandising, Customer Experience, Insights/Analytics) to execute on all campaigns and ensure consistent brand messages across all channels. Works with senior leadership to prioritize items, address barriers, determine plan and make cross-campaign decisions. Leads collection of and shares complex information (e.g., gathering and annotating product with the right info and intent) with key stakeholders and influencers.
Creative Brief Development: Develops creative briefs for a large, complex initiative/campaign (e.g., holiday). Drafts direction and key messages to promote the desired behaviors (e.g. driving customers to additional channels or products). Reviews target audience, objectives, budget and timeline for all initiatives within for a large, complex campaign (e.g., holiday). Reviews and edits creative considerations (media, materials, tone).
Cultivates an environment where associates respect and adhere to company standards of integrity and ethics.
Develops and implements strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce.
Develops and leverages internal and external partnerships and networks to maximize the achievement of business goals.
Marketing Initiative Implementation and Management: Manages all aspects of a large, complex imitative or campaign. Identifies targeted customer segments and recommends steps to enhance sales and net profits for those segments. Develops plan for all communications (e.g., email, mobile, mail and social media) to ensure a consistent customer experience and brand alignment.
Marketing Strategy: Tests new consumer concepts and leverages multicultural customer insights and analytics to provide input into new marketing or service strategies. Allocates resources to new marketing or service strategies and collaborates with multiple stakeholders (e.g., legal, merchants, finance/planning, tech groups) to garner support for the strategies. Creates brand development strategy, concepts and corresponding output (e.g., brand style guides, graphic treatment for apps).
Minimum Qualifications
1 year's supervisory experience or experience leading cross-functional projects.
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field and 4 years' experience in marketing or related field OR 7 years' experience in marketing or related field.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
8+ years of marketing experience, with 2-3 years minimum credit card marketing, including credit card acquisition and cardholder lifecycle marketing.
Experience in financial services, banking, or consumer lending space.
