Position Description:
POSITION PURPOSE
The Director, Financial Operations manages a department comprised of 50+ onshore associates and approximately 100+ offshore contractors. This person manages the daily operations for recording and analyzing accounting transactions, payment processing, and the financial reporting of the transactions. The team is responsible for all aspects of these processes, establishes and maintains accounting practices to ensure accurate and reliable data necessary for GAAP and SOX compliance, drives process improvements and ensures the team’s compliance with departmental strategies and leadership initiatives. This person will guide the departmental transition to automated processes, participate in the planning/implementation of essential systems development projects and initiatives, plan/establishes departmental goals, and drives process improvement.
MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Conducts financial planning and forecasting for the functional area.
• Conducts Pro-Forma Financial Analysis.
• Develops and executes cost controls.
• Identifies process improvement opportunities to drive profitability and develops improvement strategies.
• Responsible for appropriate selection, performance appraisals, termination and professional development of assigned staff.
NATURE AND SCOPE
• Typically reports to the Vice President, Financial Planning and Analysis and Functional Leader
• Accountable for the management of a department or functional group through subordinate supervisors/managers and for all personnel issues -- including selection, termination, performance appraisal and professional development of subordinates.
ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Environment:
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Travel:
Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Must be eighteen years of age or older.
• Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Education Required:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
Years of Relevant Work Experience:8 years
Physical Requirements:
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Preferred Qualifications:
• CPA
• Retail Inventory Method experience
• Degree in Accounting or Finance
• Prior experience in financial operations and reporting
• Strong knowledge of US generally accepted accounting principles
• Ability to critically think and provide guidance on the practical application of accounting and accounting operations matters.
• Financial Analysis and Financial Acumen
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Strong problem solving skills
• Must be able to multi-task and balance multiple high priority tasks
• Prior experience with process improvement and systems development projects
• Proven record of high performance and excellent leadership skills
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
• Knowledge of Finance and Accounting Principles and Practices.
• Business Planning/Strategy Setting experience.
• Budgeting, Financial Planning and Financial Modeling skills.
• Knowledge of International Business and Finance.
• Ability to Interact with all levels of associates.
