Position Description:
POSITION PURPOSE
The Director, Financial Reporting manages a department comprised of approximately 25 associates and oversees the management of the daily operations of accounting for the gross margin activities, corporate activities, and real estate activities of the company. The team is responsible for the accounting functions and preparation of Home Depot’s financial statements, establishes and maintains accounting practices to ensure accurate and reliable data necessary for GAAP and SOX compliance, drives process improvements and ensures the team’s compliance with departmental strategies and leadership initiatives. This person will guide the departmental transition to automated, exception based processes, participates in planning/implementation of essential systems development projects and initiatives, plans/establishes departmental goals, and drives process improvement.
MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
• 35% - SEC Reporting (Annual Report, 10-K, 10-Q, Registration Statements) Management and Board of Directors Reporting/Presentations
• 25% - Oversee Consolidations Dept., including intercompany accounts
• 5% - Equity compensation
• 15% - Technical Accounting Research/Support
• 20% - Development of Staff; Ad Hoc projects (presentations and/or analysis as requested by senior management)
NATURE AND SCOPE
• This position reports to Senior Director.
• This position has 5 direct reports.
ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Environment:
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Travel:
Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Must be eighteen years of age or older.
• Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Education Required:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
Years of Relevant Work Experience:15 years
Physical Requirements:
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Additional Qualifications:
• Big 4 Public Accounting Experience Required.
• Strong written and oral communication skills are required.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in Financial Reporting with a large public company
• Experience with multi-division, multi-national companies.
• Degree in Accounting or Finance
• CPA
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
• Strong technical knowledge of GAAP and SEC rules and regulations
