The Director, Communications & Content will create, develop and execute QRG’s internal content and communications strategy, maintaining a professional, consistent presence to team members through publishing on QRG channels, ensuring that team members understand QRG and respective brand unit’s brand, brand promise and story.
The role will be charged with inspiring employees and enhancing their knowledge of the company’s business and Corporate narrative and strategy, financial performance, product initiatives, global expansion and their role in contributing to the long-term success in the business while building a culture of energy, excitement and fun. This role will create integrated editorial and content through a sustainable and scalable process utilizing Qurate Retail Group’s owned internal and external channels. The position is based at QVC’s headquarter location in West Chester, PA
Job Description Details
Job Responsibilities
• Develop internal content & communications strategies to drive team member engagement, nurture and grow culture and align to our overall company vision, through owned channels ranging from print, digital, video and spoken.
• Identify compelling and inspirational storytelling opportunities to support team member engagement and education; develop communications materials and programs to promote and publicize these activities.
• Acts as Editor-in-Chief of our global editorial content across our internal communications platforms: intranet, digital, video and print resources as well as the development of our team member social strategy.
• Create, write, and edit compelling, value-added, dynamic and persuasive communications materials, including tailored content creation, leader remarks, briefing materials, video scripts, articles, email communications, leadership and team member communications, crafted to increase team member engagement and education.
• Define and maintain editorial calendar-looking for stories from all around the globe and partnering with stakeholders.
• Propose and execute new ways of creating and distributing content.
• Develop and execute Content & Communications internal video strategy, working with Content & Communications team members to establish ownership and execution of the strategy through standard and best video content creation practices as a key element of internal communication.
• Lead a team of content & communications and digital journalists who find, create and share dynamic, video-based stories/content, fully integrated into our media relations efforts, for the purpose of our owned internal and external channels.
• Developing/evolving our owned corporate news platforms, in partnership with the leadership team of Communications & Community.
• Develop multi-channel opportunities to tell the story across internal platforms, including team member meetings, intranet, digital, video, emails, and future technologies and communications methods.
• Establish metrics and analytics to understand how the team’s communications are impacting team members around the globe and continually refine our process.
Team Leadership and Development
• Help build and manage the Content & Communications team, including outside consultants.
• Manage day to day activities of the Content & Communication team.
• Prioritize projects and oversee progress of assignments.
• Provide approvals and coaching to accomplish projects within established high standards
• Foster a collaborative environment where team takes informed risks, learn from their experiences, are highly accountable and have stretch opportunities for personal growth and development.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business or related field required.
• Minimum 15 years past experience in internal communications or content marketing required.
• An understanding of proper messaging and content creation best practices, along with a creative spark to develop innovative content that stands out among the noise.
• Serve as an exemplary writer, consistent with QRG’s tone and culture.
• Cross functional and matrix management experience
• Senior professional with proven record of success managing internal communications in an international company
• Must possess the ability to develop and execute a strategic communications plan. Demonstrate creativity in thinking and dealing with fluid and changing situations.
• Exercise high levels of confidentiality, good judgment and problem solving in the execution of responsibilities.
• Ability to multi-task under tight deadlines and achieve results in a fast-paced, changing environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail both for line editing copy and consistency in style and tone across our content.
• Talent for translating complex topics into audience-appropriate messaging.
