This position is responsible for the overall leadership and effective performance of the Project Management Office with accountability to deliver consistent, high quality projects, programs and manage the IT portfolio. This position will direct and oversee the IT Program Management Office (PMO) to ensure IT programs and projects meet organization goals and requirements. Leads and directs project management staff and works with other department leaders to define, prioritize, and develop projects and programs.
• Lead, direct and be accountable for the overall performance of the IT PMO team in the delivery of the portfolio
• Develop and manage comprehensive project portfolio, budgets, resource allocations, and costs with overall accountability for portfolio performance (key performance indicators and metrics).
• Establish and facilitate effective project management governance, oversight and prioritization.
• Create integrated program roadmaps, ensure interdependencies are clearly identified, manage and assist in timely resolution of interdependency conflicts.
• Apply risk management assessment in project planning / ongoing execution and resolves issues and conflicts associated with management of multiple complex high-priority projects.
• Prepare and deliver regular, effective communications to ensure that leadership and project sponsors are adequately apprised of project statuses, successes, risks and issues.
• Establish professional standards for business process and project management - using industry innovations, best practices, standards, methodologies, and key performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.
• Lead project management team, establish performance expectations and standards, serve as a role-model and provide leadership direction to PMs throughout project lifecycle
• Provide weekly PMO Reports, Scorecards, and Dashboards to the CIO
• Create organizational credibility with respect to all project management deliverables and process efficiencies by instilling the culture of execution, operational excellence, and accountability for outcomes.
• Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree and PMP preferred.
• 10 years of project management experience including large scale, complex projects
• 5 years of retail IT systems experience
• 5 years of team leadership experience
• Strong financial management capabilities
• Experience with technology projects and business application releases
• Strong Program and Project Management portfolio management (across the enterprise)
• Extensive Project Management discipline knowledge and skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to influence at all levels and lead cross-functional teams in an environment of competing interests and limited resources.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills complemented by solid business and technical background, and keen interest in business operations, process improvement, and change impact.
• Expert problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments to resolve complex issues with innovative solutions.
