We are seeking a Director of Construction and Engineering to drive and deliver that strategy. Located at Qurate Retail Group’s Corporate HQ in suburban Philadelphia, the Director will lead a global team to deliver large capital projects and all global construction from small office buildouts to significant refreshes and new site construction. In this critical leadership role, you will interact with senior leadership across the organization to understand business strategy and develop the solutions that support those strategies. As a key influencer, you will tell the story that results in action, demonstrating project value and crafting the business justification to support the vision. This highly visible global role will build internal and external partnerships, manage vendor relationships, bring new technologies to QVC and share best practice methodologies globally. A strong business acumen, bias for results, unwavering focus on the customer and high energy will result in success. Your work will contribute directly to the transformation of our business.
Key accountabilities include:
• Responsible for construction and oversight of critical building systems across Qurate Retail Group – i.e., QVC, HSN, zulily and Cornerstone Brands global facilities.
• Manage a global portfolio of projects that are consistently delivered on time, within budget and exceeding our internal customers’ expectations. Timely reporting, tracking and issue resolution is an essential accountability for this role.
• Direct CREWS leaders to ensure critical building systems are being installed, maintained and monitored in a consistent manner to deliver uninterrupted building operations and reliability.
• Deliver brand-right workplace solutions aligned with culture, supporting key business processes and priorities.
• In conjunction with market CREWS leadership, direct strategic capital planning and management for the larger CREWS organization insuring all team projects are properly prioritized, funded and held accountable for overall budget commitments.
• Leads a very senior team of Capital Planning, Senior Project Managers and Critical Building Systems Managers, in the US and internationally. Experience leading a geo-dispersed team strongly preferred.
• Highly collaborative with senior executives, CREWS colleagues and key stakeholders to understand infrastructure requirements, challenges and opportunities around the world.
• Building and delivering best practices design and construction methodology.
• Leverage global vendor relationships with general contractors, architects and project management firms.
• Heavy focus on the customer experience – maintaining open lines of communication, setting timeline, scope and cost expectations, and meeting commitments.
• Works very closely with the Procurement organization around vendor sourcing process and policies.
• Establishing prioritization and governance to processes, resources and management of projects. Establishes metrics and reporting process for project progress and outcomes.
Critical Skills:
• Extensive experience leading complex corporate real estate construction projects.
• Understands space planning practices, tools and processes which drive highly efficient use of real estate assets while delivering a high performance workplace environment geared specifically to meet unique operational needs.
• Focused on sustainable workspace solutions with attractive ROI’s.
• Highly effective in developing, managing and communicating effective capital management tools.
• Understands principals of capital and expense planning, and able to work effectively with multiple stakeholders including the end user, Finance and Procurement
• Strong base knowledge of building systems and general facility operations and how they influence requirements of design and construction work.
• Able to work effectively with auto cad drawings.
• Able to lead and inspire people, demonstrating and challenging new ways of working effectively in highly efficient environments.
• Strong design acumen able to align with QVC brand and culture and capable of leading architectural and general construction teams.
Qualifications:
• 10+ years’ experience in corporate office design, space planning and construction.
• Global experience is highly desired.
• 4 year college degree in related field required.
• Master’s degree or advance industry certifications preferred.
• Experience working with office space planning software tools and processes.
• Strong negotiation skills.
• Effective communicator, able to influence, read audience and be agile.
• General understanding of design, construction and facility operations.
• Ability to manage 3rd party vendors globally.
• Ability to navigate very complex situations and personalities.
