Position Description:
POSITION PURPOSE
The Division Director of Associate Relations is responsible for setting the vision and strategy for fair and consistent employment practices for a business unit. This role ensures a positive associate relations environment to enhance overall performance in driving customer service and sales. The Division Director of Associate Relations reports to the Division Senior HR Director.
MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Provides direction/leadership to division s Regional Associate Relations Managers (RARMs) on analysis of divisions associate relations/labor and employment trends to develop appropriate region/district specific action plans
• Directs the implementation of leadership training on positive associate relations and labor relations and works closely with SSC Associate Relations and RARMs in the development of market-appropriate training to address specific employment issues
• Provides coaching and guidance on labor and employment issues/trends and associate relations needs to ensure leaders are creating and maintaining a positive associate relations environment
• Provides guidance to divisional leaders on the interpretation and consistent application of company policies, programs and initiatives
• Analyzes division/region associate relations activity and data to identify specific trends/issues, providing guidance to RARMs in developing specific action plans and providing appropriate follow up
• Provides division support to SSC Associate Relations team in response and/or resolution of EEOC, DOL, OFCCP and other labor and employment claims
• Monitors all labor relations activity in the division with guidance and direction from the SSC - Associate Relations team
• Advises division leadership on procedures for handling potential unionizing efforts, NLRB actions and develops preventative strategies and education on union avoidance
• Advises and consults with senior leadership on associate relations activity and compliance trends through updates on all labor and employment claims and activity
• Provides assistance to RHRDs with reviewing Performance Improvement Plans for District Managers to ensure fairness and consistency
• Provides coaching/development to AR and HR talent for future leadership positions

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Environment:
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Travel:
Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.

Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Additional Minimum Qualifications:
Education Required:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
Years of Relevant Work Experience:8 years
Physical Requirements:
Frequent periods are spent standing or sitting in the same location with some opportunity to move about; occasionally there may be a need to stoop or lift light objects (typically less than 8 pounds).

Preferred Qualifications:
• Advanced degree in law, employee relations, industrial relations or human resources
• Multi-unit/site (200 plus locations) and experience with 10,000 associates
• 10 years experience in employment law, employee relations or human resources
• PHR or SPHR or equivalent certification
