Overview
The Senior Director of Business Development is the lead role in building, maintaining and growing relationships with customer and customer’s suppliers, and leads the team in developing and achieving sales goals and selling new programs.
Responsibilities
• Collaborate on sales goals (dollar volume, event mix and other services) and build plans and programs to achieve those goals
• Cultivate and grow relationships with key decision makers within the supplier community and key merchants and executives at customer headquarters.
• Create reliable budgets and event forecasts based on an understanding of suppliers’ and customer’s budgeting and forecasting of events.
• Effectively communicate goals and expectations to team and properly coach when not met
• Motivate and lead a team, supporting any gaps in sales roles at any point in time to ensure consistent selling of events
• Identify and develop sales team talent (people leadership and development)
• Prepare and present ideas to sell new and unique programs
• Travel with Operations leadership for continued field learnings and apply learnings back to sales team

Qualifications
Education/Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, business, advertising or related field is preferred. Minimum of 5 years account management and new business experience in CPG, consumer activation, marketing or retail industries. Experience selling products and services to Walmart or Sam’s Club. Experience managing a sales team that achieved high sales goals and built strong customer/supplier relationships. Experience working with those in the marketing field.
Skills and Experience: Strong interpersonal skills, understanding how to develop and maintain business relationships; Critical thinking ability, connecting piece of information together across varied data sources; Strong communication skills, both verbal and nonverbal, for writing, speaking, listening and presentations; Basic analytical skills; Negotiation skills; Team and cross-functional collaboration; Consultative and insights-based selling skills; Business and financial acumen; Proven success in a customer-facing role; Adept at developing and maintaining effective working relationships across all levels of the organization; Effective at managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines; Able to prioritize conflicting demands and organize time and resources to bring assignments to successful completion; Excellent judgment; Effective problem-resolution skills and solid decision-making capabilities; Consultative, collaborative leadership style; Proficient in Microsoft Office applications with intermediate to advanced Excel skills required.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this position, the team member is regularly required to be able to:
• Sit, stand, talk, hear and use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse and/or other peripherals.

• Communicate information and ideas orally and in writing so others will understand.

• Light to moderate lifting may be required from time-to-time.
Supervisory Responsibility: Yes
Working Conditions: Primarily office environment with mild to moderate noise levels. Frequent interaction with co-workers, suppliers and customers. Some travel required.
Language Skills: English is the primary language skill; however, bilingual skills may be required based on business necessity.
