General Responsibilities
The primary mission of the Director, Operations Researchis to lead the Operations Research inventory and pricing optimization as well as the OR team.
The individual will need to understand and be able to articulate every step in the Hertz Revenue Management Function.
These steps include bounding logic, forecast algorithms, inventory optimization, price optimization, and export controls.
The individual will work closely with the Revenue Management Systems support team to provide training and explanations to address concerns raised by the user base, support team, and training team.
This individual will interact daily with the Operations Research development team to target areas of improvement in the RM systems and to recommend solutions to unresolved concerns.
This person is responsible for validating the optimization methodologies of our internal and third party applications and monitoring the accuracy of the models on an ongoing basis.
The Director would oversee a staff of analysts that are highly proficient in modeling and statistics.
The team will leverage current tools as well as make recommendations on systems that should be used in revenue management as it relates to modeling and pricing.
1. Re-Platforming of new Revenue Management Systems forecast algorithms.
2. Develop predictive modeling.
3. Monitor and maintain Revenue Management systems forecasting.
4. Oversee the integration of the unconstrained demand forecasting.
5. Lead advanced analytical studies in improvement and execution and operational efficiencies.
6. Assist in the development and modeling of pricing strategy.
Mandatory Requirements
Educational Background:
• MS or PhD in an analytical field such as Operations Research, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or Finance
Professional Experience:
• 3+ years work experience revenue management, hospitality focus preferable
• Microsoft office skills including advanced Excel and Access Skills; Database skills such as complex SQL queries, statistical software skills such as R, SPSS, or SAS; CPLEX
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills with ability to translate results into understandable and actionable information; strong written and verbal communication skills
• Modeling experience in statistics, math programming, and probability modeling; knowledge of JAVA
• Experience managing people within a complex, demand/supply planning environment
• Proven ability to develop business partnerships
• Previous experience managing and developing teams
• Process innovation and development; management via KPIs, business process redesign
Knowledge:
• Understanding of the pricing and market concepts in Revenue Management
• Knowledge of travel industry RM Systems.
• Knowledge of PROS Revenue Management system a plus
