The Sr. Director of Critical Environments is responsible for leading and managing reliability, accountability and optimization of the portfolio’s critical power infrastructure. By guiding the implementation of critical operating practices and procedures, this role will ensure service operations and production support are prioritized and managed to provide reliable, high-performance environments for all business operations and customers.
Primary Responsibilities
• Establish and maintain a culture of excellence in all Data Center operations and drive the quality and responsiveness of all operational incident response activities to include proactive support, maintenance and vulnerability remediation via effective root cause analysis and troubleshooting.
• Provide single-point ownership of all Critical Environment operations, from initial architecture decisions and documentation throughout the entire management lifecycle
• Design, develop and implement an effective governance model in collaboration with key IT stakeholders.
• Ensure consistent risk management, change management, monitoring, and 24x7 incident response in the Data Centers
• Implement a robust training program and overall Critical Infrastructure staff development strategy
• Develop and manage the budget for maintenance, repairs, capital and general operating costs, bottom-up development of yearly budgets, and negotiation and approval of vendor contracts/agreements
• Ensure that Data Centers comply with all local, state, and federal health and safety requirements and various accreditations

• Ability to communicate equally effectively to Engineers, Product Managers, Sales, Customer Satisfaction, and Executives supported by metrics and analysis of Data Center operations
• Ability to make solid business decisions in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
• A strong understanding of Hybrid Data Center Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery (BC/DR) strategies and hot-site operational planning is highly desirable.
• Working knowledge of data center critical systems, including: diesel generators, UPS systems, fuel systems, switchgear, power distribution equipment, chillers, computer room air handlers, fire detection/suppression and building monitoring systems.
• Sets strategy and can translate into measurable objectives that are tracked and well understood by members of the team
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
• BS in Computer Science, or Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) or equivalent experience
• 15+ years of Data Center support & facilities experience in mission critical environments with 5 years in a supervisory/management role
• 5+ Years' experience in managing large vendor multi-year contracts and operating entities
• 5+ Years' experience in leading, directly managing, and influencing a diverse organization of full-time employees, across multiple disciplines and platforms
Preferred Qualifications
• Strong working knowledge of physical IT infrastructures (e.g. Servers, SANs, Networking, Capacity, DC Rack/Enclosures, structured cabling etc.)
• Established track record of effective fiscal management capability and stewardship of Capital & Operating budgets
• Willingness to support a flexible travel schedule (up to 40%)
• Experience or solid understanding of multi-state, multi-country, or federal-level labor laws and employment conditions & requirements
• Background or capability with building design & construction principles and/or management
• Supply chain, asset management or logistics background and experience
• Awareness of IT Service Operations fundamentals and principles. (ITIL, MOF, OLA/SLA, CSI, etc.)
• Project or program management experience and certification(s) (e.g. Six Sigma, Kaizen, PMI, etc.)
