Director of Operations, FDF
At Panera, we believe it all starts with bread, and our bread starts at our Fresh Dough Facilities (FDF's). Our FDF's produce the raw dough daily for all fresh bread and bagels sold in our nearly 2,100 Panera bakery-cafes.
We're now looking for aDirector of FDF Operations, reporting to theVice President, FDF.They will oversee the core of our product quality and service by leading our 20 manufacturing facilities. The Director is the Ambassador of the FDF system, ensuring we embrace and live up to our Cultural Values & Concept Essence.
****This role can work out of Chicago, St. Louis, Atlanta, or Washington DC or Ontario in California****
Essential Job Functions
• Demonstrate broad scope of leadership to make an impact: This role works with FDF distribution, sanitation, production, product quality, regulatory compliance, product efficiency, and cost control while managing performance and results system-wide.
• Drive culture in your team: Paneras culture is what makes this company different from the others and that distinction is important to leverage in how this role is executed. Reporting directly into this position are 5 Hub leaders and indirectly, 15 FDF Plant Managers who lead the manufacturing facilities. ThisDirectorwill be responsible for building a culture of operational excellence and Panera warmth that leads to high associate engagement and successful financial results.
• Lead the change: Were growing as a Company and need a leader who will strategically guide us through change initiatives. TheDirector of FDF Operations will utilize strong decision-making skills with the ability to operate within ambiguity to drive operational initiatives and process improvement activities.
• Set the Standard: Our products start at the FDF locations. This role has overall responsibility for manufacturing safety, culture, quality and service, environmental compliance, and P&L responsibility for all of our FDF locations. In support of the continuous improvement and growing profitability will require the initiation, evaluation and managing of Food Safety capital projects.

Demonstrated success to provide change management leadership during rapid growth and business transformation
Proven ability to develop high-performing teams through mentoring, collaboration, and holding accountability to rigorous standards while sustaining high engagement & positive energy
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate at all levels of the organization. Spanish speaking and writing skills are preferred but not required
• Exhibited passion for embracing the Panera mission, vision and values in support of providing craveable, high quality food to our customers
• The ability to travel domestically up to 75%
Education and Experience
• A Bachelors Degree in Food Science & Technology, Business, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Operations Management or related field and 10+ years of food manufacturing and operations experience with regional and/or national responsibility for multiple locations and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Demonstrated prior experience in large scale production, engineering, lean manufacturing and/or Six Sigma, contractor management, planning, scheduling, quality, continuous improvement methods and project management
• Proven knowledge of GMPs, FSMA, OSHA regulations, QCPs and DOT guidelines
• Prior demonstrated knowledge of management principles involving strategic planning, resource allocation, human resource development, leadership and operations management
