A role with Target In-Store Marketingmeans an opportunity to shape our guests’ holistic experience of our marketing content inside our stores. You’ll drive the success of both forward-thinking projects and best practices that have a global impact on In-Store Marketing’s activities. Bring your exceptional skills for prioritization to allocate and manage projects to meet budget and timing parameters. Here, you’ll balance efficiency with effectiveness as you oversee the production and logistics for all In-Store Marketing deliverables.
As Director, ISM Planning, you will assume responsibility for in-store experience creation, including management and oversight of businesses and brands as assigned (including Toys/Sporting Goods, Electronics & Entertainment, Essentials, Food & Beverage and Health) guided by Target's overall strategies. You’ll present and represent creative work with key leaders (including C-level executives) as well as establish and approve creative concepts and strategic direction of comprehensive, in-store experiences. You will also lead business-specific reinventions and establish and share best practices and expertise, as well as provide expertise and guidance on all reinventions or cross-divisional projects.
The person in this role defines marketing challenges and metrics for ISM initiatives using data and insights, plus significant conceptualizing, reasoning and interpretation. They also focus on ISM strategy, creative and execution implementation across teams including ISM and other cross-functional internal and/or external partners. You’ll lead highly complex projects across multiple departments; adapt precedent and may make significant departure from traditional approaches to develop solutions. You’ll also initiate and champion new ideas to drive ISM in support of company, category and marketing goals.
Plan to set budget parameters through analysis of strategy and scope of project, as well as lead and represent ISM across levels, including senior leadership. You’ll influence and/or lead and develop a world-class team of ISM experts to create undeniably Target in-store shopping experiences. You’ll also manage experienced professionals and/or managers who exercise latitude and independence in assignments. You’ll articulate clear roles and direction for direct report team in alignment with Target’s vision, mission and values, as well as ISM transformation. You’ll also coach, guide, inspire and maintain a high-performing team, evaluating individual and holistic performance, development and goals.
Critical to this role is the ability to cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships and efficient working relationships with internal and external partners. You’ll create and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders both inside and outside of company. You’ll inspire others to achieve challenging goals and high standards of performance and foster a culture of collaboration and team work across the organization.

About you:
• Four-year degree in Marketing or a minimum of 8-10 years relevant retail experience
• Minimum of 3 years as a leader of people
• Experience working with creative agency partners
• Exceptional interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills
• Excellent negotiation and problem solving skills
• Ability to manage ambiguity and maintain Guest-centric focus
• Advanced understanding of the Target Brand
• Proven experience in developing successful briefs
• Ability to synthesize information/issues and deliver unique, timely and Guest-centric solutions
