Responsibilities
This Technology Director position is responsible for managing and leading The Container Store Supply Chain technology team. This team develops software for custom applications and services as well as integration with enterprise software. The role requires strong experience in developing business applications, an understanding of the retail industry and strong leadership and communication skills.
• Leads, coaches, develops and inspires team of developers and managers to maximize performance
• Designs applications and relational database management systems (RDBMS) in a distributed multi-tier and service-oriented environment
• Coordinates development activity and works directly with the Supply Chain Product Owner, subject matter experts, project stakeholders and executive leadership
• Ensures Scrum metohdology is being followed along with other software development life cycle (SDLC) requirements such as Payment Card Industry (PCI) security compliance
• Communicates to all levels of the organization regarding project development statuses, issues and production problems
• Participates in the evolution of the Agile/Scrum based SDLC, ensuring the SDLC meets the needs of the Development Team, as well as fits within the larger organizational processes, personnel and culture
• Develops software utilizing the following technologies: Oracle, Microsoft Visual Studio, Java, Ruby-on-Rails, Microsoft Window, Sun Solaris and Linux
• Works with systems administrators to troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve production issues
• Ensures development deliverables are adequately tested
• Stays current and evaluates new technology developments and techniques
• Partners with the Quality Assurance Team and subject matter experts to ensure that testing is complete, and that ongoing testing is addressed through various levels of automated testing
• Conducts code reviews
• Proactively seeks to accomplish projects and other business-related initiatives by leveraging Technology team resources
• Attends and participates in development meetings and all other necessary collaborative meetings, including meetings with other technology teams and business owners throughout the company
• Makes strategic and effective decisions in the best interest of our customers and our company, taking care to objectively process information
• Provides thought leadership and technical direction for the Development Team, including regular one-on-one meetings

Qualifications
• College degree in Information Systems or comparable experience
• 10+ years academic or work experience in business software development preferably in retail
• Experience managing others including career development, directing and evaluating work
• Experience in developing business applications
• Strong knowledge of Supply Chain Management & Merchandising Systems
• Based in Dallas/Ft. Worth area
• Ability to travel 5% a year, based on the business needs
• Experience working with Agile development methodologies (Scrum)
• Ability to collaborate with developers and product owners to develop new software applications and enhancements
• Experience implementing packaged applications like warehouse management systems (WMS) and order management systems (OMS) and enterprise resource planning systems (ERP)
• Experience with Manhattan Associates Systems is preferred, not required
• Ability to work with the team to define test cases, metrics, and resolution guidelines
• Ability to identify underlying causes of business issues and recommend appropriate corrective action or problem resolution
• Ability to manage and work with experienced developers
