Job Description
Director of Tax
Coordinate and supervise all tax functions, tax audits, federal and state income taxes,
sales/use taxes and property taxes. Responsible for tax compliance matters.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Supervise and review federal, state and local tax work papers, tax positions, schedules and tax returns
• Maximize after-tax profits by minimizing tax liabilities
• Develop and implement procedures, guidelines, systems, documentation and reporting to federal, state and local authorities
• Conduct federal and state tax audits.
• Recommend tax policies and solutions to management by projecting tax exposures; evaluate and present tax action options.
• Develop tax strategies, plans, and solutions by understanding corporate business model and requirements; research and track economic, political and legislative trends affecting and potentially affecting business; identify and research federal, state and local taxation issues. (note: this is largely N/A right now)
• Prepare/review the quarterly and annual tax provisions with supporting workpapers as required by ASC 740 and prepare disclosures for Form 10K and 10Q
• Achieve tax operational objectives by contributing information and analysis to corporate strategic plan; prepare and complete action plans; identify and resolve problems; determine system improvements and facilitate change.
• Supervise and develop to team to meet organizational needs.
Education and/or Experience
• Bachelor Degree in Accounting and a CPA
• Masters in Tax is strongly preferred
• 8+ years of progressive experience in corporate tax positions; a combination of public accounting and industry is preferred
• Experience in a retail tax position is preferred
• Proven leadership experience
• Strong critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate root cause analysis.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
• Interacts effectively – Listens and communicates effectively, able to build strong business relationships (i.e. presents confidently and convinces others) and actively networks within the industry.
