Position Summary
CVS Health is focused on driving multi-million dollar enterprise-wide growth and has developed a clearly defined strategy for the future. Leading the development and execution of key growth initiatives, the Omnicare Strategy team is driving real transformation to our Long-Term Care (LTC) customers. The Director of Omnicare Strategic Planning & Analytics leads a team tasked with developing the next generation of Omnicare strategic road map, with a particular focus on growth initiatives that will position Omnicare for competitive success in an evolving healthcare and LTC landscape. A key focus of the director will be establishing a world-class market analytics function, focused on understanding the quantitative and qualitative dynamics existing across the LTC industry – and leveraging this external knowledge to form the tenets and priorities of our internal business strategy. The director will lead a team of 6-9 resources and will own and develop the overall strategic road map for the business.
Primary responsibilities include:
• Provide thought leadership into the design of Omnicare’s future state vision for healthcare services across the Post-Acute, Senior Living, and additional LTC segments
• Lead a dedicated market analytics function, focused on establishing a firm quantitative view of the industry, all segments and sub-segments, all key performance metrics tied to our Sales infrastructure and successes, and ensuring all of these insights are deeply embedded within the Omnicare strategic road map
• Identify and evaluate industry best practices in LTC services
• Analyze internal and external data sources in order to identify, refine and size potential opportunities.
• Conduct detailed analyses on internal trends and key performance indicators to determine root-cause diagnoses and corresponding solution recommendations
• Identify and develop new concepts/opportunities that are aligned to the future state vision. Develop robust business cases to support and prioritize new concepts/opportunities
• Engage and influence leaders across CVS functions in order to build alignment around vision, design and implementation
• Lead the strategic planning process for all of Omnicare, including IT and Capital planning efforts, working effectively with cross-functional partners and Omnicare leadership
• Senior-level executive exposure within both Omnicare and its clients is expected, and commensurate executive presence is therefore required
• Strong working knowledge of Omnicare customer types and market segments
• Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects to successful completion, and to use effective judgment in prioritization and time allocation
• Develop and maintain effective relationships with cross-functional teams
• Develop and deliver regular presentations to senior executives within both CVS Health and key clients; effectively establishing logical frameworks, communicating key findings, and summarizing insights and implications
• Light travel is expected (estimated ~10%)
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in business, other quantitative disciplines, or clinical pharmacist background
- A minimum of 3 years at a top management consulting firm or in leadership roles in the LTC, retail or healthcare industries
- At least 3 years of project management with problem solving skills and experience working on large-scale, inter-department projects
- A minimum of 2 years experience leading teams with direct and indirect reports
Preferred Qualifications
- Extensive experience and knowledge of the Health Care Industry, with specific background in institutional pharmacy / retail pharmacy / pharmacy benefits
- Results-oriented, and able to influence others to meet goals in positive manner
- High-level of skill and experience required in process definition, often in ambiguous situations
- Possess the ability to break down complex problems into discrete questions and then guide cross-functional partners to develop strategic, analytical, and financial frameworks to drive design choices
- Ability to communicate effectively and succinctly with a diverse range of constituents, both verbally and on paper, and at all levels of the organization (in particular, PowerPoint presentations)
- High level of independent judgment and initiative required
- Ability to meet strict deadlines
- Advanced skills with advanced analytical software (ex: Tableau) preferred; spreadsheets and presentation software
