A role in Network Planning and Global Intelligence means creating industry leading intelligence solutions to drive best in class omnichannel guest experiences at the lowest cost to Target. You might focus on enabling the future transportation operating model, optimizing inventory management, driving topology planning or leveraging deep business insights and analytics to propel Target’s supply chain. As a network steward, we create forecasts, design inventory optimization strategies and leverage technology to ensure our inventory is available at the right time, in the right places and quantity to meet the needs of our guests, stores and operational goals. The Director- Supply Chain Network Designis responsible for leading a team of analysts with a focus on standing up Flow Center/ Receive Center Network & process capabilities across the Supply Chain. This leader is responsible for managing the timeline, budget, and resources needed to deliver a successful solution. The ability to interface effectively with all HQ and field stakeholders, provide clear requirements for support teams, hold stakeholders accountable to delivery milestones, and maintain effective communication routines, will be essential to the success of this position.
Principal Duties:
• Develop and deploy optimization models to drive strategic and tactical decisions across Operations, Engineering, Transportation and Finance
• Coordinate with Supply Chain senior leaders to develop transformation and conversion strategy, business case(s), and write/own narrative(s) for activating the future operating model.
• Develop the thought leadership and network plan to achieve expected benefits by ensuring alignment and coordination across multiple stakeholder groups, mitigating risks and managing key decisions
• Analyze and recommend optimal network solutions for peak and non-peak periods
• Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast paced environment. Ensure all individual project requirements stitch together in a way that drives expected outcomes
• Develop program requirements for end to end process flows, technology, staffing, metrics, and reporting
• Collaborate with teams with widely differing incentives to help them make the right trade-offs in terms of how they prepare for, and respond to uncertainty, providing analysis that is sophisticated but easy to understand.
• Drive cross-functional alignment, prioritization, and coordination of key program priorities and deliverables across Process teams, Product Teams, Network Engineering & Automation, Store Operations, among others
• Deliver and implement program - manage budget and timelines for deliverables and building conversions
• Communicate program progress and results to key stakeholders
• Lead team members and develop talent
Job Requirements:
Minimum
• Master’s degree and 8-10 years of experience working in Supply Chain
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in an analytical area such as Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics
• 5+ years of quantitative and qualitative experience with an ability to invent new approaches and be able to explain complex analysis in simple terms to business stakeholders
• Proven track record of experience with supply chain management concepts – forecasting, planning, optimization, logistics – gained through work experience
• Theoretical and practical knowledge of developing advanced optimization models
• Experience processing, filtering and presenting large quantities (Millions of rows) of data as well as developing data models
• Experience analyzing data and communicating effectively with Executive level decision makers
• Able to perform and deliver under tight timelines
• Strong project management skills and ability to prioritize and deliver initiatives
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. The role requires effective communication with colleagues from computer science, operations research and business backgrounds
• A track record of creative problem solving using software and the desire to create and build new processes
• Self-motivated and self-driven achiever with an aptitude for team work and team learning
• Proficiency with supply and demand planning tools
• Good knowledge and understanding of cost drivers in the value chain (supply and demand levers)
• Ability to work well in a team environment and work through ambiguity with little guidance
• Ability to manage through conflict with a positive, flexible and professional attitude
• Travel 10% of the time
Desired requirements:
• Master’s Degree or MBA in Supply Chain, Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics or other quantitative discipline
• Leadership experience
• Prior use of Lean and/or Six Sigma analytical techniques
• Proven track record of Logistics and Supply Chain Operational background
• Working knowledge of CPLEX, Gurobi, R, Python, SQL, Tableau, Visual Basic and/ or other programming languages
