VP Finance -- West Elm
This role is responsible for the West Elm P&L, leadership of the West Elm finance team, and the strategic partnership to the President and Leadership Team, reporting directly to the President.
West Elm was Born in Brook and has been helping customers express their personal style at home since the launch of our first catalog in 2002. Our home base is nestled down under the Manhattan Bridge in the DUMBO neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY, right above our flagship store. Key Responsibilities
• Member of the West Elm leadership team and leader in all aspects of West Elm Financial Strategy, Acumen and Results.
• Set Strategic Direction in developing long range plans and align across business partners on strategy and financial targets.
• Communicate a clear financial direction, action items, and strategic initiatives across the business.
• Create a financially responsible and focused culture across the organization.
• Lead the finance team in all aspects of strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting and month end close process.
• Strategic partner in the development and execution of new business initiatives including Workspace (Steelcase Partnership), Contract, and Hotel businesses.
• Oversee financial reporting to improve financial discipline and insight across the business.
• Collaboration with Inventory Planning and Merchandising on sales and margin strategy and promotions.
• Partner with Marketing and Creative on Marketing Investment Strategies.
• Review financial implications and ROIs on all new contracts.
• Collaboration and communicate with corporate FP&A and Accounting on all aspects of West Elm Financial Projections and Results, to assure alignment on financial strategies and accounting methodologies.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications:
• 10 - 15 years of progressive financial management experience, with 5+ years in a senior level of financial leadership. Must have previous experience in Finance for a publicly traded company.
• Experience within a "best practices" finance organization where the functions is viewed as a business partner. Extremely strong analytical and business acumen skills.* Must have significant understanding and strong working knowledge of US GAAP.
• Finance, economics, accounting degree, CPA preferred. International and retail/consumer products experience a plus.
• Strong strategic, consulting, problem-solving, and conceptual skills. Excellent ability to influence.
• Highly motivated, strong sense of urgency and track record of getting results.
• Ability to build strong relationships, partner with various levels of management
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to clearly communicate complex financial concepts to multiple audiences.
• Expert at PowerPoint and Excel. Experience with planning tools. Hyperion a plus.
• Demonstrated strong financial discipline in both areas of accounting and forecasting.
• Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work in a tight deadline environment
• Ability to develop others and delegate effectively.
