Director Technology, Engineering Enablement
As a Director Technology, Engineering Enablement, you are accountable for leading the Engineering Enablement and Agile Toolsteams. You and your teams will be responsible for the design and development of all tools that Engineers use to get their jobs done. This includes DevOps pipeline tools, knowledge management tools and new initiatives such as chatbots in Slack. You will lead Product teams that are responsible for making the engineering experience at Target world class by identifying new technology practices and tools that engineers will love. You will develop and foster key relationships from VPs of Engineering, to Engineers in their first enterprise roles. You will drive the technology infrastructure Target uses to make software engineering a frictionless process, from engineer desktop to deployment to production.
Lead the
Engineering Enablement and Agile Toolsorganization
·Understand, advocate and communicate company objectives, vision and strategy to team members and leaders
·Innovate, lead and initiate new development processes, technology and capabilities – fostering a Product culture of agility, speed to market, continuous improvement, and innovation in development and operations.
·Act as a change agent to enable, empower and inspire technology teams to collaboratively create solutions to drive Target’s growth
Ensure that technology is healthy, scalable and robust
·Influence the direction of DevOps at Target by creating a frictionless engineering experience with tools that increase productivity, speed of delivery and overall quality.
·Drive root cause analysis and forward planning of all non-functional (scalability, performance, resilience, availability, security, development efficiency etc.) issues of the DevOps platform
·Create/evolve vision for technology solutions; communicate, inspire and align technology leaders and teams to execution of vision
·Keep abreast of technology trends and advances in the DevOps space
Build strong internal and external partnerships
·Create and maintain strong partnerships with internal business clients in multiple locations
·Responsible for partnerships and management of key technology vendors.
·Build relationships with external partners and stay current with technology advances in the space.
Team Member Management
·Ability to understand, advocate and communicate company objectives, vision and strategy to team members and leaders.
·Set staffing needs and support recruiting strategy that is aligned with meeting business objectives
·Provides leadership, coaching, motivation and assistance to managers and team members to ensure teamwork and high performance in the accomplishments of all responsibilities and projects.
·Plan and execute staff development activities and training.
·Drive a culture of engineering that helps attract and retain talent with a passion for diversity
Job Requirements:
Minimum Requirements
·4-year bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
·12+ years of experience; 3+ years of experience managing teams building engineering pipelines
·Possess deep understanding of engineering pipeline tools such as Jenkins, Drone, Artifactory, GitHub, Confluence, Jira, Chef and Ansible.
·Strong business acumen, ability to connect technical direction to business strategy and goals
·Ability to convey technical solutions clearly beyond immediate team
·Proven technology leadership experience operating engineering tools that support 4000+ workers
·Proven experience leading corporate IT teams and success in building high performing teams.
·Experience building and leading Agile teams that have adopted modern CI/CD practices and have hosted workloads in the external or private cloud environments.
·Excellent written and verbal communication skills for communicating effectively at the highest levels of management.
·Ability to exert intellectual, emotional and political influence as the situation demands
·Proactive and responsible with strong managerial skills
·Experience managing budgets.
