POSITION PURPOSE:
Responsible for leading the execution of strategic and transactional protocols for Inventory Planning and Replenishment supporting the business goals of UNFI. Manages Inventory Planning and Replenishment team activities to ensure UNFI inventory and resource utilization is maximized in achieving best in class service to inventory metric results and book to average goals. Responsible for creating and managing the internal UNFI management processes of product flow from manufacturer to UNFI distribution centers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:
• Oversees, in coordination with supply chain managers, supplier on boarding execution, and development of specific protocols specific to enhancing emerging suppliers’ ability to be a profitable and successful supplier to UNFI
• Manages the company’s inventory to maximize UNFI’s working capital.
• Manages the company’s fill rate to customers according to company goals and targets
• Supports the inbound logistics program to maximize freight savings opportunities.
• Provides regular instruction to new and mentored suppliers and regarding replenishment procedures, policies, and
• Designs strategies to capitalize on market buy opportunities.
• Identifies potential new processes and efficiencies which may increase service level and reduce days of inventory on hand.
• May be responsible for developing and implementing effective purchasing and logistics strategies for new suppliers.
• Formulates, proposes, and manages budgets. Ensures programs and activities are cost effective, efficient, and within established budget constraints.
• Leverages current alliances and customer and supplier relationships to further expand business opportunities at all levels.
• In conjunction with other senior managers, provides leadership to supply chain personnel through effective objective setting, delegation, training, and communication.
• Responsible for ensuring professional relations with all customers, vendors, trade professionals, external contacts, and within all company regions and divisions.
• Ensures the delivery of products and services within established timeframes. Works to exceed customer expectations.
• Ensures customers, vendors, third parties, and business alliances are well informed through continual feedback and communication.

Required Skills:
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
• Bachelor degree preferred or equivalent related experience
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
• Extensive knowledge of industry principles and practices.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• Eight or more years purchasing experience, preferably in retail distribution industry.
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Good organizational and follow-through skills.
• Ability to implement surveys and interpret results.
• Ability to supervise, train, and lead others.
• Good analytical skills.
• Ability to make public presentations.
