Tea has been a part of Starbucks heritage since 1971, when the company was founded as Starbucks Coffee, Tea and Spices. Since its acquisition in 2012, the Teavana team has been on a mission to do for tea what Starbucks has done for coffee. Our goal is to create a super-premium everyday tea ritual in the Americas and beyond, which will come to life in many channels, forms and experiences. The Regional Director contributes to Teavana’s success by leading store operations within an assigned region and by managing a team of Area Managers to create and maintain the Teavana experience for our customers and partners. The majority of time is spent staffing, coaching, developing and managing the performance of the area managers while also managing the region’s financial performance. The Regional Director models and acts in accordance with Teavana and the guiding principles, policies, and procedures.
Summary of Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities and key job functions include but are not limited to the following:
Leadership: Setting goals for the work group, developing leadership capability, and modeling how we work together.
• Identifies and communicates key responsibilities and practices to ensure the immediate team of direct reports promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results.
• Supports the implementation of Teavana company programs, procedures, methods, and practices to promote key messages and help achieve a competitive advantage.
• Demonstrates a customer focused approach and models expectations for stores.
• Builds Area Manager capability to coach, develop, and manage the performance of their General Managers.
• Sets clear expectations, delegates and communicates key responsibilities and practices to Area Managers to drive sales and ensure smooth flow of operations.
• Leads with integrity, honesty and knowledge that promote the culture, values and mission of Teavana.
Planning and Execution: Developing strategic and operational plans for the work group, managing execution, and measuring results.
• Directs and continuously improves store operations within the region to meet company objectives. Identifies, plans, and executes areas for improvement to ensure consistent positive service to customers.
• Ensure that all Area Managers understand and effectively lead General Managers to implement store operating procedures (i.e. sales process, zoning, scheduling, recruitment, succession planning, inventory, beverage quality, safety, cleanliness and merchandising.)
• Ensures that the sales process and indicator program is alive in stores with full understanding.
• Plans and executes strategies to increase sales while controlling operational costs within the assigned region; including travel, payroll, supplies, and related expense.
• Prepares, communicates, and educates region on changes in process, policies and practices within the organization and ensures that programs are aligned with company business goals and objectives.
• Plans and executes strategies to increase sales while controlling operational costs within the assigned region. Identifies trends and forecasts store budgets.
• Leads and consistently follows up with team of Area Managers to ensure accountability to plans.
Qualifications: Summary of Experience
• Progressive experience managing multi-unit retail, restaurant, or service organizations (5 – 7 years)
• Experience selling (commission based sales or small box specialty preferred).
• Progressively responsible retail experience.
• Planning and organizational skills.
• Ability to apply sound business principles and practices to management and change management processes.
• Basic skills in email, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business while also having the capability to travel weekly. Must have reliable transportation.
