The Sr. Director of Planning (Living & Dining Furniture) will have an immediate connection to Our Values (People, Quality, Service and Innovation). ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead the planning team for a division
• Mentor and coach planning team on planning functions, systems, and tools
• As a leader on the merchandising team, responsible for leading and/or participating on various project teams
• Hire, train, and develop merchandise planners in division
Pre-Season Inventory Planning
• Strategize, develop, and present annual and season divisional financial plans
• Partner with company planning in the establishment of divisional sales, margin, and inventory targets
• Collaborate with merchandising to support product strategies and vision
• Provide seasonal and event recaps and ad hoc analysis
• Direct the analysis of historical data and current trends to identify risk and opportunities by department, subclass, class, collection, and SKU
• Responsible for the development and execution of sound sales, margin, and inventory plans
• Review plans to ensure that they are consistent with divisional strategies and company financial goals
In-Season Inventory Planning
• Responsible for leading the forecasting process for all departments in division
• Responsible for achieving all components of the merchandise plan including sales, margin and inventory turn
• Lead in-season forecasting of business to ensure adequate product flow to the business trends
• Analyze weekly/monthly business as part of the division to understand trends, issues, and opportunities to drive necessary actions
• Manage planned divisional inventory levels, inventory turnover, in-stock, and fulfillment performance to achieve plans
• Ensure core product inventory plans deliver sufficient quantities to support display quantities, cycle stock and safety stock
• Develop exit strategies for non-productive inventory to maximize GMROI
• Identify and address exceptions to forecast and plans on a weekly basis
• Create and present divisional forecasts and action plans for monthly OTB meetings
RELATED COMPETENCIES
• Build and maintain strong business relationships with cross functional team members
• Experience developing performance metrics
• A strong track record of successful operation and management of a team of planning professionals
• Business experience would include a career of progressively-increased responsibility spent predominantly in the merchandise planning area of a high-volume specialty retailer
• Financially knowledgeable; will be responsible for department budgets
EXPERIENCE
• A command of MS Office Suite with advanced skills in Excel and STS
• Four-year college degree in business or another related area
• A minimum of 8 years of experience with a high-volume, specialty retailer or direct-to-consumer business
