Workers Compensation Injury Counselor

Risk Management is looking for an Injury Counselor to be responsible for the handling and oversight of workers compensation claims as a result of on the job injuries. Under the direction of the Workers’ Compensation Program Manager, the successful candidate will support and coordinate all related activity with local U-Haul management, the injured Team member, the Third Party Administrator, Medical Case management (when appropriate), and outside counsel (when necessary) in bringing each claim to its best possible resolution.
Essential Duties:
• Assist injured Team members to ensure they receive the appropriate medical care
• Promptly and thoroughly investigate newly reported work related injuries to determine compensability
• Maintain appropriate levels of communication with all involved parties
• Receive and enter necessary information regarding each reported injury into the data depository
• Coordinate with local U-Haul management to facilitate Return To Work when feasible and appropriate
• Manage all key components (including medical, indemnity, legal) of each claim to ensure optimum handling and best possible resolution
Requirements:
• Successful candidates will have a proven successful track record of being hard-hitting, enthusiastic individuals who accomplish goals
• Outstanding research skills
• Superb verbal and written communication and organization skills
• Knowledge of Workers’ Compensation claims handling process, and a minimum of two years experience in managing Injury related claims
• Attention to detail
• Excellent multi-tasking skills
• Teamwork and desire to help people
• Strong aptitude for technology
• Experience in nursing field preferred, but not required
