Job Description
District Manager
Sales – Maximizes sales results by completing the following:
Drive profitable sales by properly preparing for and executing all corporate initiatives at the store level
Forecast sales and adjust inventory levels on all assigned stores
Track profitability, and oversee the control of expenses in the district
Coordinate repairs, supplies and services for assigned stores
Monitor inventory per square foot to support the sales plan
Customer Service
Ensure a customer focused environment in all assigned stores through training of management team.
Monitor the recovery process during visits to ensure that standards are met throughout the district
Address customer complaints/concerns in an urgent and friendly manner.
Ensure management team knowledge of customer service philosophy and upcoming/current advertising.
Manage staffing levels in all assigned stores to ensure proper balance and maintain customer service.
Merchandising and Presentation
Ensure that every effort is made to increase sales through merchandising, displays, and advertising preparation in all assigned stores
Ensure that stores are properly stocked in accordance with company merchandising guidelines, and that markdowns are completed timely and accurately per policy.
Assist with relocating and opening new stores – hire and train new staff, order supplies, and merchandise; executing floor plans per corporate direction.
Ensure timely execution of merchandise presentation programs including Green Card, E-mails and Seasonal displays all set and signed the prior evening the ad is in effect through proper communication and follow up in all store in the district.
Staffing and Training
Develop engaged and knowledgeable store management to drive sales, customer service, and to maintain proper store condition through good hiring decisions and thorough training.
Supervise store management teams; coach, counsel, evaluate performance, and recommend salary increases, promotions and terminations.
Train management team in all phases of store operations.
Provide support and guidance in all area of day-to-day management of all assigned stores.
Leadership and Communication – Builds effective teams by utilizing the following:
Motivate and impact team performance using exceptional people development skills.
Ensure Company policies and procedures are adhered to and enforced equitably and consistently.
Foster a work environment where associates are encouraged to communicate creative and innovative ideas.
Encourage associates to communicate any concerns to their supervisor, or to use the Open Door Policy.
Coach to improvement, and encourage giving and receiving constructive feedback.
Evaluate performance of associates and issue appropriate discipline, if necessary.
Loss Prevention and Safety
Ensure adherence to loss prevention policies, and enforce company policies and procedures in all areas of operations.
Audit each assigned store at least once per month, according to store audit guidelines with the store manager present.
Submit store audits to the regional manager within 24 hours.
Ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed in each store to create a safe environment for associates and customers.
Job Requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Bachelor degree in Management or General Business, or greater than 5 years of retail management experience is required. Five (5) years of multi-unit retail management experience is preferred.
Must possess strong business acumen and solid operational skills, and be able to execute concepts related to accounting principles, inventory management, merchandising, and management of human resources.
Excellent communication skills required for effective interaction with customers and associates
Ability to lead, make decisions, explain procedures, convey information, analyze numbers, resolve problems or conflict, demonstrate reasoning, adaptability, conceptualizing, attention to detail, time management, organization and computer skills
Must demonstrate outstanding interpersonal skills in order to resolve any associate or customer complaints or issues that will promote a positive work environment and the service standards in accordance with company philosophy.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Works out of home and travels to stores using personal vehicle. May occasionally drive a rental car. A valid Driver’s License is required.
Frequently required to read and interpret written documents, and must be able to distinguish colors.
Must be able to frequently lift and carry products weighing less than 5 pounds. Will occasionally need to lift and carry products weighing up to 50 pounds. Occasional pushing and pulling of carts and product weighing 50 to 250 pounds.
Frequently reaching to various levels and directions to move/stack boxes of product and stock product on display racks.
Continuous standing; frequent walking, climbing, crawling, stooping, bending and twisting; and occasional kneeling needed in order to stand and /or stock product(s) on display racks
Continuous need to hear in order to respond to and interact with management, associates, and customers. Will need to hear requests in person, and via intercom and telephone.
Continuous verbal communication with management, associates and customers in person, and via intercom and telephone.
Occasional use of hand tools such as screwdriver, hammer, scissors, box knife, pricing guns, etc., used to assemble/disassemble/unpackage/prepare products, shelves, displays, etc.
