Job Summary:The Vice President, Global Compliance, is responsible for managing and operationalizing compliance and ensuring that the Lumber Liquidators and its employees are complying with all applicable laws and regulations and with all internal policies and procedures.
This position helps develop and maintain the company’s compliance strategy, structure and processes; standards and procedures to ensure that the compliance programs throughout the organization are effective and efficient in identifying, preventing, detecting and correcting noncompliance. Advises and works with the broad management team on compliance issues, reporting, and monitoring.
This position also leads specific product and supplier compliance team efforts to deliver oversight and support for ethical sourcing, new and existing product development and vendor evaluation and validation.
This position oversees that products procured and supplied compliance with country-of-origin, international, national and state standards, regulations and statutes; and in accordance with Company policy and value proposition objectives. He/she serves as a subject matter expert on legal and regulatory industry compliance standards and requirements encompassing, but not limited to, Lacey Act, FCPA, CARB/TSCA Title VI, CA Prop 65, CPSC, C-TPAT, Health Canada and Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency; product safety; certifications and labelling; environmental; and social responsibility.

Primary Functions:
• Support the development and revision of the annual compliance work plan.
• Conduct internal compliance reviews and monitor related activities, and provide regular reporting to senior management, staff, and employees.
• Support the implementation of compliance programs, including Code of Conduct/Ethics as well as product and sourcing.
• Help develop policies and programs for reporting suspected fraud and non-compliance.
• Coordinate and develop compliance training programs to ensure that all appropriate employees and business and vendor partners are knowledgeable of, and comply with, pertinent federal and state laws and regulations as well as Lumber Liquidators’ policies and procedures.
• Respond to government investigations and queries as appropriate and necessary.
• Monitor external audit review processes, maintain awareness of compliance issues.
• Review, develop or revise, and implement product compliance standards and programs that must be met by new and existing suppliers.
• Establish, ensure, and maintain proper process and sourcing systems documentation or standard operating procedures (SOP) and supplier manuals.
• Implement systems management processes to ensure supply chain traceability.
• Oversee, create and implement ethical product and sourcing policies, guidance, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards and requirements.
• Conduct appropriate analysis, establish plans, and identify resources and systems for program roll-out.
• Review, evaluate, and recommend compliance programs and practices; conduct reviews and benchmarking; and work with third-party audit firms and other retailers to assess programs.
• Schedule and oversee product and supplier compliance audits to identify areas of risk and define and recommend improvements to address identified gaps or improvement needs.
• Review and assess potential high-risk compliance issues by gathering information and evidence and make recommendations for remedial action(s).
• Help Investigate allegations of noncompliance; present compliance issues found at suppliers' factories to internal and external stakeholders; coordinate compliance audits; and making case-by-case decisions regarding issue closure.
• Provide specialist training to sourcing, quality, vendors and other business partners to ensure compliance with standards/regulations.
• Supports and helps lead change in the organization while fostering a culture that drives for results and equally focuses on product, service and execution.
• Provide strong leadership in the recruitment, training and development of top quality talent to ensure the team has a high level of performance, productivity, accountability, and transparency.
• Ensures products and suppliers are in legal compliance, specifically with the Lacey Act and/or CARB; and in addition, holds suppliers to strict standards of ethical and legal behaviors and conducts appropriate due diligence that they are in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
• Fosters and ensures compliance with company policy and applicable laws and regulations relating to all facets of the business, including, but not limited to SOX, SEC, Lacey Act, FCPA, and C-TPAT, wage and hour, product safety, certifications and labelling, environmental, and social responsibility.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• 10-12 years of relevant experience in more senior compliance roles required.
• Experience in highly regulated retail/sales or manufacturing industries preferred with additional experience or exposure to international.
• Strong track record of building strategic partnerships and relationships.
• Experience in attracting and retaining high caliber talent and developing a world class team.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office required
Education & Experience
Bachelor degree required in business or related field; advanced degree preferred.
