Position Summary
Would you like to join Fortune 7 CVS Health leading our dynamic and growing enterprise patient safety team? As the Enterprise Patient Safety Director, you will be responsible for providing guidance and support for the Patient Safety programs of the assigned CVS Health business units.
You will incorporate and utilize methods to improve all aspects of patient safety and quality. By applying the principles of patient safety, and clinical knowledge acquired as a practicing pharmacist, you will review event reports, provide advice and support to healthcare providers in the field, analyze clinical processes, identify potential risks for patients and healthcare providers and develop strategies to maximize safety, effectiveness and efficiency.
You will support enterprise patient safety committee meetings, groups comprised of key patient safety representatives across all of the business units. Under the guidance of the Vice President, each of these business units are responsible for supplying data to the Enterprise Patient Safety and Quality Scorecards to measure event reporting, quality indicators, medical malpractice claims data across the company, as well as submitting Annual Patient Safety Plans that outline the programmatic activities that will improve safety within their departments.
You will partner closely with the business unit management to assure integration and compliance with quality and patient safety goals across the enterprise and run special projects as directed.
This position will be located in Cumberland, RI.
Additional duties & responsibilities:
• You will advance patient safety through rigorous data analysis and the ongoing examination of workflows, processes and systems to identify existing or emerging patient safety and quality risks.
• You will develop and implement new processes and system improvements to mitigate identified risks.
• You will guide implementation of enterprise-wide patient safety initiatives by safety and operational leaders from the involved business units.
• By collaborating with Risk Management, you will gain insights into key safety and quality issues identified through litigation and claims data review.
• You will shape and promote an enterprise wide culture of safety through the adoption of Just Culture principles.
• You will act as a resource for application of basic principles of Patient Safety Organization (PSO) compliance, partnering with Legal.
• You will perform ad hoc field risk assessments to develop risk mitigation strategies and tactics to improve patient safety in emerging risk areas that are not otherwise gleaned through the existing data analytics.
These activities will be conducted with the objective of enhancing patient and healthcare provider safety, promoting quality care, and minimizing loss to protect the reputational and financial assets of the organization.
Education
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Clinical licensure as a RPh required.
