Director of Continuous Improvement, FDF
Position: Director of Continuous Improvement, Fresh Dough Facility
Reports To: VP/GM, FDF Operations
FLSA: Exempt
Job Summary
The Director Continuous Improvement (CI), in conjunction with the Hub Managers and FDF leadership, has responsibility for the continued development, promotion and strategically aligned implementation of the companys business system designed to drive world-class results in customer satisfaction, quality, on-time delivery, customer-value, and ultimately operating financial performance. This role will provide the thought leadership, strategic direction, and tactical implementation leadership and support for the further development and advancement of the business system across FDF operations.
Essential Job Functions
Responsible for building and maintaining a culture of continuous operational improvement that permeates all operations.
• Manufacturing Processes: Ensure operating units are implementing the appropriate lean tools, e.g. VSM, standard work, pull systems, SMED, variance reduction, etc. to maximize productivity and throughput while minimizing lead time and WIP.
• Transactional Processes: Ensure operating units are implementing the appropriate lean tools, e.g. VSM, Transactional Process Improvement, variance reduction, etc. to maximize productivity and minimize lead time in the front and back office areas.
• Benchmarking: Develop and manage a database for benchmarking financial data and key performance indicators.
• Vision/Strategy: Participate in the definition and development of the operational strategy. Lead the development of the operational excellence plan in support of the overall strategy.
• Profitability and Growth: Assist in identifying and supporting opportunities to enhance profitability and growth in all operating units.
• Best in Class Team: Insure that a depth of high quality talent exists throughout the Company. Assist in selecting, developing, leading and coaching the team with the goal of meeting/exceeding targeted goals.
• Process-Orientation: Identify and implement best in class lean processes and infrastructure suitable to the scope and size of the operations.
• Special Projects: Provide strategic and tactical leadership in the execution of any key special projects.
Qualifications and Experience
• Demonstrated prior experience with developing and implementing a lean culture is required.
• Lean and Six Sigma certification, preferably as a Master Black Belt is required.
• Analytical experience to demonstrate ROI with lean initiatives is required.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills with relationship influencing credibility across all levels of the organization is required.
• Multi-site manufacturing experience is preferred.
Education:
• Undergraduate degree in Operations Management, Management, Engineering or Business and/or an equivalent amount of education and experience is required.
Essential Physical Requirements
The following physical requirements must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation. The work environment requires tolerance to variations in temperature, wet conditions in dishwashing area, exposure to food products, and manufacturing equipment that includes a variety of controls and mechanisms.
• Ability to manipulate equipment utilizing manual dexterity
• Ability to stand, walk, squat, and sit for long periods of time
• Ability to understand written and verbal instructions
• Ability to push and lift items with varying degrees of weight. Occasional pushing of cabinets up to 400 pounds with or without assistance is required
• Ability to perform repetitive motion movements with upper extremities
