Position Summary
The Senior Director of Merchandise Strategy will lead high priority, multi-million dollar initiatives on a project-by-project basis, overseeing a cross-functional team and working very closely with executive leadership.
The Senior Director of Merchandising Strategy will be responsible for partnering very closely with executive leadership, category managers, brand partners, and key cross-functional partners to build, align on and execute a three-year strategic vision for one of the departments in merchandising, in a way that inspires our customers, differentiates us from competition, and strengthens the CVS Pharmacy brand. In this role, you will lead new brand recruitment and activation. You will also spearhead the complex, cross-functional execution of the strategic vision and priorities, including the overall operational plan with performance measures to ensure excellence in execution and business case to achieve budgeted sales, margin, and market share goals. This person will build and develop a high performing team, providing timely and constructive feedback which place colleagues on a path to success while meeting overall business objectives.
The position operates within the Merchandising department and will collaborate with a broad range of functions, including Category Management, Store Brands, Inventory, Front Store Strategy, Store Operations, Store Design, Marketing/PR, Finance and external brand partners.
Required Qualifications
-10+ years of leadership experience in corporate retail or management consulting focused on consumer companies
- Willingness to travel 10 – 25%
Preferred Qualifications
-15+ years of experience in retail or consulting focused on consumer companies
- P&L ownership
- Omni-channel experience
- Leadership over multiple teams
-Proven track record of driving transformational performance through the implementation of innovative strategies that drive significant sales and margin
-Demonstrated leadership, strategy and innovation capabilities, as well as the ability to facilitate and influence executive leadership in decision making
-Customer-led mindset and data-driven, analytical approach to decision-making
-Ability to lead execution and drive results, collaborating with and influencing cross-functional teams
-Demonstrated ability to lead, develop and motivate large, high-performing teams
-Strong communication (written and oral) and presentation skills
Education
• BA/BS from leading institution
• Master’s Degree or MBA preferred
