Description
As the Marketing Director, your primary objective is to lead the marketing function for Westfield San Francisco Centre, to develop short and long term plans that drive sales, traffic and NOI growth. You will oversee the marketing function in terms of people resourcing, local marketing strategy, interpretations and execution of national brand programs, budget allocations, campaign development and measurement, ensuring that talent meets business needs. You will also be a key partner of the marketing strategy for Bespoke, Westfield’s retail-tech ecosystem
This individual will:
• Work / partner with VP Marketing Operations, General Manager and marketing support staff to achieve individual center and collective market KPIs and goals
• Assist the VP Marketing Operations in the planning, development and production of national marketing programs
• Ability to understand and communicate sales, retailer revenue, kick-outs and percentage rent
• Maintain ongoing communication with General Manager and other property and asset staff to ensure alignment and manage expectations
• Define, communication and maintain high standard of customer service
• Understand the function and role of digital and social channels to effectively plan content designed for acquisition and engagement
Job responsibilities are:
STRATEGIC & FINANCIAL
• Develop overall center vision, strategy and plan to support corporate brand strategy
• Determine priorities and assets in order to allocate marketing resources to the most important /key issues
• Drive generation of superior customer insights and translate into actionable, relevant plans and programs
• Assist in the development and review of center business plans and marketing budgets to ensure all key items are represented in line with the center strategies
• Manage center marketing budgets
• Meet all budget deadlines
• Understand the market research needs and lead on-going requirements in consultation with strategy and market research; use research, insights and trends and apply to marketing strategies and communication
• Review and interpret local, national and global competitor activities and behavior for trends and potential ideas/application to Westfield and future campaigns
OPERATIONAL
• Review marketing strategy ensuring there is alignment between the national marketing plan and individual center approach; identify best practices and share results nationally and within center team
• Collaborate with VP Marketing Operations and asset partners on the development and execution of marketing campaigns that leverage opportunity for additional revenue
• Review post analysis and results for all major campaigns ensuring measurability and quality, sharing results with key stakeholders
• Support the management team with operational duties including manager on duty responsibilities
• Work with management, operations, facilities and leasing teams to execute on best practices across all touch points of the customer journey
• Assist in the management of Westfield’s customer service initiatives as well as other customer service satisfaction measurement programs
• Strive to improve and build upon overall customer service and amenities
• Research best practices seeking new ideas to incorporate into the menu of Westfield services and amenities
• Have a detailed understanding of sales performance and traffic results for the center a comparison to key benchmarks in the business / industry and the implication to on-going strategy
• Develop strong retailer relations by establishing and maintaining a thorough understanding of the retailer business
• Solicit and encourage retailer participation / support and integration to marketing programs as an effort to promote their business and add value to the overall center marketing plan
CONSUMER MARKETING & COMMUNICATION
• Lead marketing support team to activate the local implementation of marketing programs based on best practices that deliver on the Westfield brand standard
• Develop and plan content calendar for all digital and social media channels, working in partnership with the Manager, Digital Marketing to publish and monitor results
• Develop strategic communication plan including digital and social channels to support local execution of national programs, local programs and center positioning in the market
• Partner with retailers to support openings, drive sales and promote offers and events
• Ensure all communication meets Westfield brand guidelines, standards and tone
• Drive overall local media approach
• Develop and manage media relations including local public relations support for marketing campaigns, regional programs, new store openings and crisis management
• Develop and manage community relations, outreach, partnerships and sponsorships for the center
TEAM
• Provide leadership and management of marketing support staff including performance management, coaching and development for growth within the company
• Provide clear communication with marketing team on expectations and KPIs
• In partnership with the General Manager and VP Marketing Operations, recruit, train and onboard new staff to the marketing team as needed
• Develop and improve on tools to support training and development of marketing team
KNOWLEDGE & COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS
• College degree required
• 7+ years of Marketing and/or related experience
• Strong business acumen, strategic orientation, and general operation experience
• Retail or Shopping Center industry knowledge, experience or expertise preferred
• Strength in leadership, strategy, marketing, and financial management
• Familiar with digital and social media platforms and curating content
• Experience in public relations, media relations and crisis management preferred
• Exceptional communication skills, clear, concise and professional representation is expected
• Knowledge of real estate and / or retail development, leasing and operations
• Strong analytical capability, especially in understanding and applying marketing/retail trends and marketing communication principles
• Must be flexible and able to work event shifts which may include nights, weekends and holidays
• Ability to travel as needed
