The Sr. Director, International Transportation is responsible for the development and execution of international inbound to the United States. This role reports to the Senior Vice President, Supply Chain. The Sr. Director, International Transportation ensures that internal and external customers receive the highest level of service with a focus on speed-to-market for all Belk International product at appropriate costs, as well as working with business partners to ensure the Belk teams are functioning at their highest level.
Essential Functions:
• Responsible for the development and execution of international inbound from Asia to the United States with a focus on freight forwarder, ocean carriers and transloading.
• Responsible for optimizing how the international freight is moved the efficient execution of inbound and outbound product receipt at third-party transloader and shipping levels of service, including identification and resolution of allocation receipt issues and data flow to transloader such as ocean to east coast; ocean to west coast and via air.
• The role would own and manage our performance team deconsolidation operations such as unload containers and transload to a truck for delivery to the Distribution Centers.
• Establish and execute provider KPIs, SOPs, business processes and process improvements, scorecards and monitor performance to improve the flow of product.
• Ownership of the hand-off between our domestic transportation and distribution teams.
• Build and develop strong carrier relationships for Belk with domestic and international carriers. This does not include parcel carriers.
• Establish a milestone management with reporting process to provide supply chain visibility.
• Develop and prepare volume forecasting related to transloading. Interacts with internal Domestic Supply Chain partners to facilitate efficient movement of goods to Belk DCs.
• Conduct meetings with transloader, including quarterly business reviews of transloader partner’s performance. Key figure in escalation and resolution of performance issues. Work with transloader on escalated issues with goal of improving product flow through process change.
• Drive the implementation of a Global Trade Management module of our PLM system-Bamboo Rose.
• Manage execution of Belk International budget and controls as they relate to transloading, drayage and related services. Support internal accounting month end procedures for proper accounting of transloading, dray and chassis expenses. Audit invoicing and report out performance related to international transloading expenses.
• Support the development and attainment of short and long-range goals and objectives. Review and analyze activities, costs, operations, and forecast data to determine progress toward stated goals and objectives.
• Maintains required trailer pools and solicits additional equipment in order to make seasonal adjustments as needed.
• Works closely with IT business partners on testing and implementation of applications, upgrades and EDI information related to transloading.
• Demonstrate support for the operation by fostering effective communication through transparency of strategies and processes, and promoting relationship building initiatives.

Minimum Education & Experience:
• BA/BS degree.
• Minimum 10 Years of transloading, supply chain operations or supply chain planning experience including 5 years of strategic leadership experience.
• Experience with international transportation modes preferred.
• Prior experience effectively working across organizations from all functions, particularly in planning, forecasting and supply chain. Ability to persuade and influence others, collaborative, accountable for results, impeccable record of delivering on their promise.
Preferred Education & Experience:
• BA/BS in Business, Engineering, Logistics / Supply Chain Management or equivalent.
