Job Description
The Senior User Experience Designer is in charge of balancing innovative new features with performance and speed for an optimal user experience, as well as generating and implementing feature ideas. The Senior User Experience Designer partners with Product Management, Engineering, and Merchandising to identify and understand opportunities. This position collaborates with Copywriters, Visual Designers, Web Developers, Research, and Engineering when opportunities turn into projects to produce elegant solutions that meet customer and business expectations.
Responsibilities/Skills/Experience Requirements
Responsibilities:
• Use your skills and knowledge to shape the future of large Social e-Commerce sites.
• Collaborates with Product Management, other User Experience (UX) disciplines, and Engineering in the creation of creative briefs and/or product requirements documentation and design solutions.
• Leads reviews of web and/or mobile design to ensure requirements are met and user interface standards are followed.
• Generates time estimates for the completion of User Experience tasks and deliverables.
• Interviews candidates with the intent of recruiting team members.
• Effectively articulates the key design principles of the design solution to the immediate team and upper management.
• Builds and maintains constructive partnerships throughout the Online Business Unit and other Business Units.
• Translates business and technical requirements for new applications into rich engaging customer experiences.
• Conducts research (varies by needs of intent) to inform or refine designs. This includes determining research goals, creating a test plan and facilitator’s script, recruiting users, executing the study protocol (e.g. lab test, remote test, survey), and analyzing the results.
• Keeps abreast of new design patterns and trends.
• Leads the evolution of standards.
• Mentors User Experience Designers.
• Conceptualizes user experiences using sketching, storyboarding, information modeling and other methods.
Requirements:
• BS/BA degree in HCI, Human Factors, Industrial Design required or equivalent professional work related experience
• 15+ years related professional experience
• Ability to deliver high quality work consistently and on time
• Attention to detail, while also considering the big picture
• Excellent communication skills – in person, written and presentation
• Self-motivated with positive attitude
• Comprehensive understanding of user-centered design concepts and user research techniques
• Portfolio that displays an understanding of user-centered design (online portfolio preferred)
• Familiarity in the capabilities of HTML, DHTML, CSS, Flash and AJAX-based applications
• Proficiency in industry standard user interface design software such as Visio, OmniGraffle, Axure, Photoshop, PowerPoint and Acrobat
