The Panera Operation Services team is seeking a Sr. Manager Testing, Validation, and Commercialization to optimize operational procedures and improve efficiencies of new products, equipment and process introductions at our bakery-cafes. This individual will represent the Operations Services team and will collaborate with other departments on key projects in support of company and franchise locations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Achieves Operations Services objectives by contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; determining system improvements; and implementing change.
• Responsible for operational-focused support of new products, equipment and process programs during testing and rollout.
• Project manage both big and small product and equipment tests.
• Validate and develop training material including Step-By-Steps, Roll-Out Guides, and schematics.
• Conduct Time & Motion Studies and Capacity Studies in support of new test items.
• Define labor implications and deployment processes associated with new product introductions.
• Provide direction on Back of House layout and workstation design for optimized functionality.
• Ensure all procedures are within standards for Food Safety and Food Quality.
Other Accountabilities:
• Proactively provide feedback, troubleshoot potential implications and implement solutions to improve operational efficiencies throughout the bakery-caf.
• Provide holistic view of ingredients, equipment, smallwares, etc., to address operational impact towards Paneras long-term goals.
• Able to simplify large amounts of complex information into easy to understand, actionable directions.
• Able to lead and train others in a cross-functional environment including Senior Leadership cascade training, Market testing of new products/equipment, etc.
• Work with vendors on solutions to improve caf effectiveness and efficiencies.
• Act as a resource to Retail Operations management for current and test food product, ingredient, and equipment operational processes.
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal departments to facilitate a team oriented and supportive approach on key projects and updates.
• Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Qualifications & Abilities:
• Bachelors degree preferred Food Science, Industrial Engineering, Hospitality Management or similar.
• Five years of experience in foodservice industry.
• Proficient with MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Familiar with Panera's bakery-cafe systems including POS, Back of House, Front Production Lines, etc.
• Outstanding ability to coach team members on performance management while maintaining positive working relationships.
• Outstanding Oral and Written Communications.
• Excellent execution & follow up skills; Very strong attention to detail.
• Strong organization and time management skills.
• Ability to work in fast paced environment while balancing multiple priorities individually and in a team setting.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, delegate and balance varying workloads in multiple different food and operational environments.
• Proven creativity in problem-solving from varying perspectives.
• Willingness to Travel up to 50% or as work load dictates.
