Job Description
The Sr Dir, Online Marketplace directs the overall strategy and success for the Sears Marketplace. This leader provides critical support and insight to business unit executives to improve the enterprise business performance while ensuring that the Marketplace and Online business goals are exceeded.
The Sr Dir, Online Marketplace will be critical in driving the growth of the SHC Marketplace. This leader will be responsible for driving all seller/merchandise acquisition for the business. Our mission is to create the worlds most trusted and member friendly platform delivering the largest relevant selection of products and services, offer our members competitive pricing authoritative product information and specifications. The successful candidate will be entrepreneurial, innovative, and excel at “thinking big,” while also recognizing the need to coordinate his or her team’s activities within the established structure of a large, fast-growing company. The ideal candidate will apply different business models to this initiative and drive exponential growth to increase the assortments with quality products and prices and increase GMV to make this a significant part of the company’s growth.
Responsibilities/Skills/Experience Requirements
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Business Development and Operations -
◦ Will lead the Business Development, Operations and Product Management teams to convert insights into scalable products and target lists of sellers/assortment for acquisition.
◦ Maintain relationships with hundreds of leading third-party sellers who market their products on the SEARS.com website; wholesalers, distributors and content providers.
◦ Drive seller visits and performance to ensure clarity of shared vision and ensure SHC is providing the most relevant and competitive products and prices to our Members
◦ Develop and maintain scorecard for each seller and provide both feedback and incentives to top sellers to continue their growth on Sears Holdings Corporation platform. Candidate must have the ability to develop different business models to drive profitable growth with each seller.
• Organizational Alignment
◦ Establish strong relationships with BU leaders to understand their merchandising plans, growth goals and ensure they are leveraged to accomplish on shared goals
◦ Leads with analytical insights to create a shared model of success with BU leaders
• Performance Management
◦ Ensures optimization of merchandise programs to constantly improve business performance
◦ Reviews and monitors complete business performance to support the online business unit's goal of achieving business objectives
◦ Actively engages in the identification, prioritization and implementation of operational and technological improvements needed by business to achieve profitable sales growth.
◦ Drives daily and weekly business reviews and performance for each business and link to overall Online business unit performance
• Member Experience
◦ Evangelize the Marketplace platform with both internal and external business partners and give our members more choices and relevant brands.
◦ Maximize Member experience through continuous improvements and process refinements.
◦ Continue to learn and innovate around the online channel - staying current on industry and competitive landscape, trends, and tastes.
• Performs supervisory functions, including but not limited to, making employment decisions regarding hiring, promoting, demoting and terminating, conducting performance appraisals and coaching and developing associates.
• Drives leadership and supports cultural engagement across teams.
Requirements:
• 5-10 years of proven ecommerce experience with marketplace experience
• 5-10 years of work experience, preferably within strategy, innovation, finance, and/or planning
• Extensive track record influencing change within large, complex organizations
• Bachelor’s degree is required; MBA is preferred
• An effective, respected and influential communicator at all levels of an organization
• Ability to solve problems creatively and align with business objectives
• Team player with ability to build strong relationships and work cross-functionally in a complex organizational structure.

• Ability to prioritize and work through ambiguity
• Self-starter and ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment
