The Senior Art Director will aim to maximize company sales growth and profitability by producing visual solutions and conceptual and stylistic photo art direction for use in marketing materials, catalogs and other mediums including but not limited to digital, video, social, etc.
Job Description:
• Oversee the primary activities on photo shoots of freelance contributors, including photographers, stylists, set builders, producer and location scouts, to ensure completion of task and attainment of departmental goals.
• Act as the direct point of contact for Merchandising on the branding and visual concepts.
• Work with creative team to develop and produce new creative for multiple mediums including digital, video, print, social, etc.
• Ensure consistency of brand and creative across print and digital customer touch points.
• Evaluate and assess new projects based upon size, complexity, and time frame.
• Serve as the escalation point for issues beyond team authority and resolve conflicts involving scheduling, resources, or technical issues.
• Maintain responsibility for the budgeting of department's personnel, capital, and/or operations expenses, as needed.
• Perform graphic design duties requiring planning, scheduling, and implementation of graphic design projects.
• Review design drafts and camera-color proofs, and ensure proper pagination and color assignment.
• Design documentation components and create graphics for the company's marketing materials.
• Apply established corporate branding specifications to ensure work meets corporate guidelines.
• Present final layouts to clients for approval.
• Confer with clients to determine objectives, budget, background information, and presentation approaches, styles, and techniques.
• Focus on promoting sales as they pertain to, or are driven by your position.
• Manage all aspects of performance and development of direct reports to encourage professional
• Oversee the primary activities of individual contributors to ensure completion of tasks and attainment of departmental goals.
• Select and assign appropriate project leader and team member(s).
• Manage personnel activities of staff (i.e., hire, train, reward, motivate, discipline, terminate, performance reviews, and compensation discussions).
• Confer with Creative, Art, Copywriting, or Production team leads to discuss client requirements and presentation concepts as well as coordinate creative activities.
• Collaborate with creative directors to develop design solutions.
Required Skills
• 5-7 years previous related experience; digital experience a plus
• 5+ years of management experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Art or Marketing
• Possess excellent knowledge of graphic design practices and procedures
• Excellent time management, organizational and problem solving skills
• Detail oriented; excellent time management, organization, and problem solving skills
• Excellent in Macintosh OSX platform software including Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, InDesign
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), Google email and application platform
• Good reading and written language skills (English)
