Position Overview:
Provides overall leadership for the Americas' engineering and Project Management Organization (PMO) with the focus to flawlessly execute capital and non-capital projects for the Americas' Supply Chain and Business Services. Understand current and future business needs and proactively develop plans that will deliver to those needs while remaining in the allocated funds and resources.
This role manages the Americas capital spending (approximately $70MM) and other key non-capital strategic projects supporting American Supply Chain that delivers close to $4 billion dollars in revenue. The organization is designed to support this level of work with an internal network of 40 degreed engineers, 4 certified project managers and supplemental contractors and consulting firms. The incumbent of this role must provide indirect leadership and direction of this group. Number of processes/technologies that this role must have knowledge of includes: Blending, Packaging, Extraction, Concentration, Pasteurization, Liquid Flavor Manufacturing, Spray Drying, Condiment Manufacturing, Wet Sauce Process and Filling (cold and hot), Distribution, and others as needed.
This position requires the understanding of the complete supply chain to develop solutions that meet the need of the overall business. This understanding goes beyond supply chain as this position does interface with marketing and sales directly to best respond to customer / consumer needs and to deliver to the organizations expectations.
This position also requires a good understanding of financial workings of the business as each project will have an impact on the bottom line from a profit/margin standpoint.
This position interfaces with all sites and functions throughout the Americas with dotted line responsibility to all Engineering Managers. With this responsibility, the position impacts the direction and results of all sites in the Americas supply chain. Also, with direct leadership over Project Managers that are executing the key cross functional projects in the network, this role impacts all parts of the business.
Responsibilities:
• Direct leadership of the Americas Engineering Team and PMO team to include Engineering Directors of sub regions, Regional Project/control Engineers, Process Manager, PMO Director and Project Managers. Indirect leadership of Site Engineering Managers. Resource planning to manage over 350 active projects and about 200 new projects every year.
• Leads the strategic capital planning process (3-5 years) and project delivery for the Americas. Plan is designed to meet long term business objectives (LTP). Once the plan is developed, manage the plan to ensure goals and expectations are achieved. Annual capital plans are typically in the $70 MM range (Supply and Business Services).
• Accountable for standardization across the the Americas engineering function. Capital approval processes, equipment and building layouts and design (engineering standards and specifications), process engineering and documentation, spending controls, project management and reporting, rewards and recognition.
• Involved in strategic acquisition process. Evaluates assets of potential acquisition and what synergies could be obtained with current operations. Will execute projects/opportunities identified during the integration phase.
• Ensures that proper career paths and succession planning are in place for the engineering function at the NA level and at the site level. Works with the sites to integrate HPO within the engineering function.
• Lead innovation and research of technology across the Americas to ensure best in class manufacturing systems and processes are always being reviewed and developed.
• Systematic review of large scale projects being executed by the regional and/or site engineers to ensure they are hitting all goals and milestones. Will also support our co-pack network. Offer technical and leadership guidance as needed in all areas of the business.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, MBA preferred
• PMI certification
• TPM experience and application
• 15 years of relevant management or professional Engineering and Leadership experience and large capital budget responsibility.
• 5 years of relevant project management or professional PMO experience on large cross functional strategic projects
• Demonstrated strategic leadership and business acumen
• Ability to handle high degrees of complexity and navigate within matrixed organization
• Personal and team leadership
• Demonstrated ability to influence and communicate to drive action and accountability
