Delek US Holdings, Inc. is a diversified downstream energy company with assets in petroleum refining, logistics, asphalt, renewable fuels and convenience store retailing. The refining assets consist of refineries operated in Tyler and Big Spring, Texas, El Dorado, Arkansas and Krotz Springs, Louisiana with a combined nameplate crude throughput capacity of 302,000 barrels per day. Delek US Holdings owns 100 percent of the general partner and 81.6 percent of the limited partner interest in Alon USA Partners, LP (NYSE: ALDW), which owns a crude oil refinery in Big Spring, Texas, with a crude oil throughput capacity of 73,000 barrels per day and an integrated wholesale marketing business.
The logistics operations primarily consist of Delek Logistics Partners, LP. Delek US Holdings, Inc. and its affiliates also own approximately 63 percent (including the 2 percent general partner interest) of Delek Logistics Partners, LP. Delek Logistics Partners, LP (NYSE: DKL) is a growth-oriented master limited partnership focused on owning and operating midstream energy infrastructure assets.
The asphalt operations consist of owned or operated asphalt terminals serving markets from Tennessee to the west coast through a combination of non-blended asphalt purchased from third parties and produced at the Big Spring, Texas and El Dorado, Arkansas refineries. The renewables operations will consist of plants in Texas and Arkansas that produce biodiesel fuel and a renewable diesel facility in California.
The convenience store retail business is the largest 7-Eleven licensee in the United States and operates approximately 300 convenience stores which also market motor fuels in central and west Texas and New Mexico.
Position Summary:
Primary focus is to aggressively grow the existing and future Delek Logistics assets through identification of existing and potential customers, evaluating and analyzing customer needs, providing innovative solutions to constituent requirements, and completing effective contract negotiations. Position will be an integral member of the Business Unit team and must be willing to work collaboratively with operations, engineering, legal, accounting, and business development subordinates to jointly grow Delek Logistics assets.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
• Responsible for all Business Development activities associated with assigned assets.
• Develops economic models and performs economic analysis.
• Identifies, develops and implements strategies to add new customers to Delek Logistics.
• Develops innovative, customer-responsive engineering and business solutions aimed at providing quality service to customers while increasing cash flow for DKL.
• Negotiates and/or re-negotiates existing throughput agreements with customers for terminals and pipeline services.
• Works closely with engineering, management and operations to evaluate project scope and capital spending requirements for new commercial opportunities.
• Works closely with engineering, management and operations to evaluate and set contract rates and capital spending requirements for terminal and pipeline systems.
• Develops and maintains relationships with current customers, potential customers, professional organizations and competitors to enhance our chances of growing Delek Logistics’ systems.
• Is intimately familiar with all contracts in the operating area and proactively pursues new contracts prior to their expiration dates.
• Monitors industry activities, new pipelines and other new business opportunities and develops plans for capturing new business.
• Works closely with Business Development Peers, VP’s, and senior management, to grow business throughout DKL assets.
• Works with assigned customers to obtain and update, throughput forecasts on a quarterly basis.
• Regular meetings with existing customers and future customers as required to gain a deep understanding of their current and future needs.
Job Qualifications
• Minimum of 10+ years of experience in petroleum, supply or midstream required. Marketing experience a plus. Background in contracts and negotiations and economic modeling required.
• Chemical, Mechanical or Petroleum Engineering degree strongly preferred.
• Must be able to develop and modify economic models and perform complex economic analysis to evaluate and justify new projects.
• Must possess strong leadership, people, and customer relations skills and have numerous contacts throughout the industry.
• Must be able to quickly and accurately analyze business opportunities and capitalize on potential new business.
• Must be a self-starter and have the strong ability to successfully initiate and pursue business opportunities with minimal oversight or direction.
• Must be a great team player and be able to work closely with other Delek Logistics associates including business development, executives, engineering, operations, contract administration, all focused toward the closing and ongoing maintenance of new business ventures..
• Proven track record of completing successful negotiations.
• Strong written and verbal communications.
• Strong work ethic and respect among industry peers in areas of honesty, integrity, and business knowledge.
