Job Description Details
The Content Management Lead is responsible for the strategic development and execution of tools and processes that enable the capture and deployment of content assets across our brands and platforms.
This position will be the executive business owner for the Technology organization for all content management systems and will set the overall standards for content creation, distribution, maintenance, retrieval, and repurposing. Recognizing that our ability to quickly create and publish content will be a differentiator amongst a crowded retail and media landscape, the Content Management lead ensures our processes are fully optimized and our tools are state of the art.
This role is responsible for defining the overall taxonomy, controlled vocabulary, and metadata schemas for content to improve the findability of our content both internally and externally. In a future dominated by “search,” this role will anticipate the needs of voice, machine learning, artificial intelligence in addition to traditional methods to ensure our content is in front of the right customer at the right time.
The leader of the function is a member of the Interactive Commerce Experience Leadership Team and has a shared responsibility of delivering the results committed to by his/her own function, as well as supporting the processes/initiatives being led by other functions.
The leader will connect regularly with his/her counterpart at zulily to identify opportunities for their teams to work together on shared priorities.

• Provide executive oversight and define the strategy around content systems in partnership with Technology
• Assist with overall architecture of future state content systems
• Provide thought leadership around optimizing the toolset to enable the content creation and distribution ecosystem
Content process/workflow leadership
• Work across the global enterprise to develop standards on content creation, approval, storage, retrieval, and archival
• Design and implement content development, management, and approval workflows, including processes for omnichannel content development
• Provide thought leadership around optimizing the processes to enable the content creation and distribution ecosystem
Content taxonomy
• Own metadata strategy including development, socialization, maintenance, and governance
• Develop and test controlled vocabularies in order to significantly improve the “findability” of content internally and externally
Qualifications:
• 10+ years of content management, creation, marketing, agency experience.
• 5+ years executive leadership experience in an online environment, preferably with a multi-channel retailer.
• Education: A bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Merchandising or Computer Science related field required. MBA preferred.
• Proven experience leading content management and classification teams
• Proven experience leading across multiple retail brands and/or geographic markets
• Understanding of production and post-production processes, including video content distribution ecosystems (social, streaming media, etc.)
• Experience and understanding emerging media platforms including ecommerce, mobile commerce, IP-based media, and cable/broadcast television
• Proven ability to work cross-functionally in a global multi-function organization
• Experience in leading and managing a business development/strategic team of varying experience levels
• Relationships within technology and digital media industry
• Content management systems expertise
• Experience in information management best practices – architecting and designing the application of metadata standards, controlled vocabularies, and data rules
