Job Description
SUMMARY
The primary purpose of this position is to develop, implement, and monitor processes related to Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), direct appropriate follow-up on HIPAA breaches on quality assurance issues, and immunization adverse events. The position will also provide review of other critical areas of regulatory oversight in regards to medication compounding practices, appropriate meal/break compliance for pharmacists within State Board of Pharmacy guidelines, and government sponsored 340B program setup and execution. Frequent independent judgments are essential. The incumbent is also required to perform all tasks in observance of Rite Aid’s brand and strategy and adhere to our core values and service attributes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The associate is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned:
• Manage CQI process, Rite Prescription Program, prescription errors, HIPAA and immunization issues to improve customer satisfaction and reduce filling/dispensing of medication errors
• Create and coordinate communications to the field regarding changes in policy and procedures
• Develop and enhance continuous process improvement initiatives in Pharmacy Operations for store pharmacies and pharmacy field leadership at all levels
• Work with field partners to correct pharmacy errors, making recommendations to fix the issues, identify root cause of problem and implement solutions to minimize risk
• Review and coordinate store compliance within states that have more restrictive and specific compounding guidelines
• Assist legal in clinical case review subject to litigation and monetary settlement decisions
• Maintain knowledge of industry events and trends as it relates to regulatory or CQI processes
• Assure state Board of Pharmacy regulations around meals/breaks for pharmacists are identified, communicated, and executed through field leadership team
• Assure pharmacy enrollment in 340B government programs for prescription medication receipt, dispensing, and tracking is adhered to for new and ongoing pharmacies participating in the program.
Experience / Requirements
• Five (5) years' of experience in Pharmacy required
• Or equivalent education in lieu of experience
Education
• Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) Pharmacy required
• Active Pharmacist license in good standing for the state in which one works required
• Certified Immunizer required
