Position Description:
Position Purpose:
The Home Depot QuoteCenter (HDQC) Director of Operations is primarily responsible for the execution of strategies developed by the HDQC leadership team. As a member of the leadership team, the Director of Operations is responsible for crafting short- and long-term focus areas for the team (e.g., objectives, strategies, etc.), and delivering results on a day-to-day and quarter-to-quarter basis.
What is it like to work at The Home Depot QuoteCenter? Aggressive Targets: The mission of the team is to radically change the buying experience at The Home Depot for Pro customers. In the last five years, the team has built a software application & marketplace that facilitates $1.5B in sales to Pro customers. We are targeting $2.5B in sales next year. Lots of Moving Parts: This roles is responsible for strategically engaging and capturing marketplace demand, driving sales, and executing programs that make a material impact on The Home Depot's sales volume. It oversees all aspects related to sales and fulfillment of The Home Depot products through product application, and is responsible for top line growth achieved through optimizing the people and processes that drive sales and fulfillment operations. This role will manage all tactical activities with vendors, merchant, and end users.
What problem will you be solving in this role? Optimizing the people and processes that drive top line sales through a rapidly growing Pro marketplace. You will be the COO of the business, responsible for increasing sales by strategically optimizing THD Pro product and service offerings (e.g. offerings, assortment, price, COGS, fulfillment, services, etc.).
Major Tasks, Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities:
50%-Strategic Operational Execution: Develop a comprehensive operations strategy in sync with QuoteCenter OGSM. Directs and leads strategic projects focused on growth and strategic planning to drive QC from $1.5B to 5B over the next 4 years, requiring frequent & tailored communication to numerous and various stakeholders. 30%- Financial Management: Owns top line sales, develops forward-looking action plans and reports to business leaders on a routine basis. Evaluate and advise on the impact of long-range planning, introduction of new programs/strategies and regulatory action.
20%-Leadership: Leads, plans, coordinates teams in an efficient manner to effectively perform programs and processes; utilizes metrics to track performance and manage workload. Ensures operational processes and procedures are compliant and consistent with established policies.
Nature and Scope:
This position reports to the General Manager. This position has 5 direct reports.
Environmental Job Requirements:
Located in a comfortable indoor area.
Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
Standard Minimum Qualifications:
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Additional Minimum Qualifications:
Education Required: The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diploma and/or GED.
Work Experience Required: 7 years
Physical Requirements: Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Preferred Qualifications: A broad grasp of the retail environment and sales experience (category management, cost optimization, pricing strategy, etc) Experience developing relationships with merchants, vendors, field programs/personnel and customers Data governance experience with retail master data strongly preferred robust, scalable business process development experience. Experience fostering a business culture that strives for increasingly higher levels of efficiency Financial and reporting systems experience Experience with brand and awareness program development. Customer support and field training experience. Appetite for managing managers and developing talent. Familiarity with Agile culture preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies: Excellent communicator in both verbal and written form. Polished presentation skills, creating materials and presenting to various levels of management. Big picture thinker able to operate effectively at 30,000 foot view, but also able to get into the details when necessary. Strong story teller, is able to formulate cohesive messages with meaningful and impactful points that resonate with target audience. Self-starter, requires little to no direction to be effective at role.
