Overview
The Global Sourcing Director is responsible for managing a Team of Sourcing Managers, covering a variety of product categories, to deliver the Strategic Sourcing Goals of Pier 1 Imports. Reporting directly into the EVP of Global Sourcing they will help set up the process and procedures for the Team and set clear objectives based on the company’s financial targets. They will lead and support the Team to deliver lower FOB cost prices, increased Agent value, improved Vendor trading terms and help lower stock loss through improved packaging solutions. All of this will be achieved ensuring that costs are kept within the department budget. They will maintain good relationships with key stakeholders and in particular, support the Merchandising strategy as specified by the Buyers through partnering with vendors and agents to deliver quality products to market, at the level of value the customer expects. They will encourage a culture within the team that delivers “win/win” relationships between Pier 1, their Agents and Vendors. They will keep up to date with any changes in the Sourcing landscape, adjust tactics when required and build out networks of potential new Vendors to bring about new opportunities as needed.

Education & Experience
• 10+ years applicable experience in Sourcing
• Bachelor Degree required
• International Sourcing Experience in Non-Food
• Previously responsible for sourcing Budget of +$100m
• Prior Managerial Role, 7+ direct reports
• Expertise in conducting complex negotiations.
• Project management and Process improvement expertise
• Advanced understanding of the value chain
• Time spent working overseas preferred, especially in China, India or Asia as a whole.
• Microsoft Office proficient.
• Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Previous retail experience desirable
• Light to moderate lifting in sample room and ability to assemble samples as needed.
• Ability to travel up to 30%
• Travel requires ability to handle luggage without assistance and be on your feet for full days walking factories and trade shows.
• Ability to adapt quickly to time zones, different cultures, food, etc.
• Work 7 days a week for extended hours while traveling.
