Capitalizing on its domestic ecommerce success and worldwide brand recognition, Toys "R" Us is building a global ecommerce IT organization that will help drive expansion of our online selling presence into international markets.
TRU is looking for an experienced technologist in the global e-commerce operations. The person will be responsible for establishing the processes and overseeing the day-to-day operations necessary to ensure 24x7x365 uptime of TRU’s e-commerce platforms. The key responsibilities
Duties/Responsibilities
• Define and review mandatory operational and security standards and processes to ensure stability and responsiveness of all digital platforms.
• Institute standards and automated testing to ensure production worthiness of all new releases before deployment to production environment.
• Partner with business, product and development organization in identifying key performance metrics necessary to monitor the health of e-commerce business.
• Spearhead the development of health-check dashboards using a mix of open source and commercial software showcasing the health of the global storefronts
• Evaluate and lead the implementation of tools necessary to build operational intelligence to gain real-time visibility and insights into e-commerce operations.
• Develop a uniform and efficient production support communication and release process across the entire digital enterprise.
• Build strong working relationship with external partners including software vendors, data hosting companies and other third party SAAS providers involved directly or indirectly with the TRU e-commerce.
• Energize and lead the various operational teams to adopt an iterative process to improve the workflow with the singular goal of reducing the mean time to detect and fix production issues.
• Engage with engineering to implement instrumentation to enable collection of critical & reliable business and operational events from all tiers of the e-commerce platform necessary to build a state-of-the-art early warning and detection system.
• Over time, introduce machine learning, pattern recognition and artificial intelligence in operations to detect anomalies by recognizing deviation from the norm and bring technologies that can help with root cause analysis by correlating multiple data streams.
People Management/Team Leadership
• Staff and manage contractors as needed to support the ecommerce operations.
• Partner with Talent Acquisition to recruit, interview, select and hire team members
• Mentor, grow and develop the careers of all direct reports.
• Ensure team members have the skills and resources to get things done.
• Define precise, well-understood and easily measurable objectives and key results for the department, teams, and individuals.
• Empower employees to make decisions and to take responsibility for their jobs and goals
• Lead by example, set standards for professional behavior, stay abreast of new technologies and news
• Foster a positive work environment where staff feels appreciated and is motivated to do their best
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field required. Masters in Computer Science or Information Technology preferred.
• Overall 10+ years of experience in the software development and high-volume enterprise systems.
• At least 3+ years of demonstrated experience in managing and directing technology operations, preferably for high-volume e-commerce website, which require extensive collaboration across various groups.
• Experience in retail industry with Omnichannel business model is preferred.
• Demonstrable presentation, written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
• Self-driven, passionate leader and evangelist with expertise in delivery and execution in an agile and lean development environment
• Ability to balance short term tactical decisions with long term strategic vision.
• Demonstrable leadership abilities in fast paced, ambiguous and challenging situations.
• Good written and presentation skills. Excellent interpersonal and intrapersonal skills.
• Experience using Cloud infrastructure, DevOPs & Big Data a plus.
• Robust understanding of leading industry technologies a plus.
• Knowledge of Security/Data Protection, Network Management, Systems Management & Monitoring preferred.
