CREATIVE DIRECTOR – Christmas Tree Shops / andThat!
Here’s your opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a new in-house team for of one of the largest, most successful retailers in the US. If you are a highly skilled, talented creative professional with proven ability in leading and inspiring a creative team, then we want to meet you. The Creative Director will play a leadership role in managing and building a team of creative professionals including art directors, designers and writers. You would be instrumental in evolving and enhancing the story of one of the nation’s most popular brands, as well as growing new store concepts and expanding our marketing messages across all channels and media. The position reports to the VP of Creative. Our offices are in Union, New Jersey. We are seeking someone with strong creative talent and the ability to channel that creativity through others.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Act as the creative catalyst for the brand, driving the expression of the brand in all marketing channels
• Establish effective creative strategies in concert with internal Marketing stakeholders
• Develop creative concepts that break through the marketplace clutter and position us as the store of choice in our categories
• Direct the execution of creative campaigns in print and digital media (display, web and social) for our stores, websites and social channels
• Deliver creative execution that is on brief, on time, and on budget
• Identify and develop talent, fostering a culture of creative excellence and collaborative spirit
• Recognize and leverage successful methods and technologies to support the creative process
• Solid reporting line to VP of Creative and dotted line to senior leadership. Provide support and clear communication to the senior team on current initiatives while ensuring work is creatively outstanding and meets all proposed objectives
• Manage, assess and build a team aligned with business needs
Requirements:
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• 10+ years of relevant professional experience
• 3+ years in a management role
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in design or creative studies
• Proven examples of participation in a leadership role in successful ad campaigns and projects
• Experience in successfully orchestrating work through both in-house and outside agencies
• Ability to work with, develop, and manage people with respect for their unique contributions
• Hands-on expertise in Adobe CS and other applications for digital and print production
• Thorough knowledge of print and web technologies relevant to advertising
• Extensive photography/video direction experience
• Ability to effectively present and sell through creative to executive level audiences
• Demonstrated passion for design innovation, and explorative creative thought
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience in retail industry
• Experience in a creative agency and/or a start-up environment
• Experience in home design and decorating industry
• Experience with or exposure to social platforms and best practices for content on those platforms
