SUMMARY
The Senior Engineer, Authentication Solutions position will focus on providing solutions which enforce appropriate access to Target team members, contractors, suppliers and guests to Target applications, data, and business processes. The Senior Engineer will partner with Target Security & Risk professionals, architects, product teams, and other technology partners to deliver comprehensive authentication solutions, appropriate for each business opportunity. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in multiple authentication technologies (including but not limited to WAM/SSO, Federation, Multi-Factor Authentication, Adaptive & Risk-Based Authentication, and Directory Services), experienced in Agile methodologies, and an expert in DevOps principles and technologies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Design and deliver technical solutions to enforce appropriate access controls to Target data, applications, and business processes
• Optimize the overall capabilities of Target’s authentication platform by leveraging complementary authentication solutions to provide measurable business outcomes
• Oversee preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and quickly resolve routine problems to ensure infrastructure and application stability; utilize expert knowledge in Identity and Access Management initiatives to support information security strategy and plan.
• Partner with other experts across Security & Risk, Enterprise Architecture, and business product teams to ensure our solutions continue to meet the evolving business needs
• Work with security architecture teams to review security requirements, establish patterns, and develop solutions to solve security/business challenges as it relates to authentication capabilities
• Evaluate current and/or emerging technologies, considering factors such as cost, portability, compatibility, and/or usability, to make a recommendation as to their applicability in our environment
• Maintains a current knowledge of the technology and business landscape; determines the impact of new technology capabilities, standards, and hardware and/or software upgrades on the existing portfolio and strategy efforts
• Communicate project status to Target business and security leadership, with emphasis on solution delivery and risk identification & mitigation
• Identify and track metrics that demonstrate the effectiveness of solutions in our portfolio against stated goals
• Be a forward-thinker, with an emphasis on providing technical solutions to support business outcomes
• Understands interrelationships and impacts of systems and applications upon the enterprise wide technical environment
• Evaluates vendor products for software purchases
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Security, or Information Systems or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of experience in IAM, providing security solutions leveraging WAM/SSO, Federation, Directory Services, Adaptive/Risk-Based Authentication, and/or Multi-Factor Authentication
• 3+ years of experience with application development writing and securing web applications, APIs, Microservices, and/or SPAs via CI/CD tools
• 2+ years of experience working in a DevOps environment automating Configuration & Release Management capabilities to support hardware and software platforms
• 2+ years of experience working in Agile teams
• Demonstrated experience working in a cloud environment - public, internal, or hybrid
• Ability to learn and operate in a dynamic environment
• Ability to demonstrate analytical expertise, close attention to detail, excellent critical thinking, logic, and solution orientation and to learn and adapt quickly
• Strong oral and written communication skills
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience delivering authentication solutions at Internet-scale, preferably in a consumer-facing environment
• Experience as an administrator in multiple IAM technologies across WAM/SSO, Federation, Directory Services, Adaptive/Risk-Based Authentication, and/or Multi-Factor Authentication
• Experience with AD Bridging or LDAP-based authentication solutions for Unix/Linux environments and database administrators
• Experience deploying robust SSH solutions for securing access to Unix/Linux environments
• Experience with Privileged Access Management solutions, including password vault, privilege escalation, and/or secret management
• Unix/Linux or Windows Active Directory System Administration experience
• Experience with scripting languages – i.e. Python, Ruby, Shell, Powershell, etc. – as well as other programming languages – i.e. Java, JavaScript (Node, Angular, or React), Go
• Experience with FIDO
• Experience with PKI, cryptography, SSL/TLS, IPSEC
• Demonstrated skills working in a matrix organization
• Demonstrated Project Management Skills
• One or more certifications, including, Security+, CEH, CISSP or similar
