Position Title: Director of Internal Communications
Position Location:
Position Summary:
Responsible for developing and leading Food Lion internal communications strategy, with a focus on connecting communications to the organization's business strategy, vision, values and culture. In addition, serves as a key strategic partner for communications colleagues at the Global Support Office and in the U.S. businesses, as needed.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Leads the development of strategy to engage all Food Lion associates in the organizational direction, vision, values and culture.
Develops and executes strategies and plans to ensure effective company communications among all associates at the Food Lion brand.
Develops and directs an integrated cadre of communication tools (electronic, Web, print, video, events/mtgs., etc.) that supports the Food Lion vision, values and culture, and banner specific needs.
Provides direct counsel to senior leaders, especially with major initiatives, events and announcements.
Develops an integrated internal communications brand strategy to be used as a filter for all internal communication efforts.
Collaborates with External Communications/Marketing to achieve internal and external brand parity.
Develops strategies to achieve above average associate engagement as measured by internal surveys (Associate Experience Survey, World Wide Engagement Survey).
Assures alignment in communication strategy for Food Lion and Ahold Delhaize Global and US.
Pilots new technologies, techniques and media as appropriate to stay current.
Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related field
10 years in PR/communications function
Minimum of five to eight years in communication or business leadership.
Proven solid leadership abilities with a focus on development of teams and people.
Excellent writing/editing and interpersonal communication skills.
Obvious brand model and champion
Demonstrated skill leading projects with company-wide impact.
Ability to effectively prioritize, and direct multiple initiatives simultaneously.
Strong analytical, strategic planning, execution and cross-organizational collaboration skills.
Ability to effectively engage with all levels of leadership.
Experience coaching senior executives in communication tactics and strategies
Proven ability to direct a virtual team to execute common strategy across geographies.
Proficiency in translating organizational needs into communication strategy and tactics
Strong ability to plan and execute strategic communication consistent with change management principles.
