Position OverviewThe Managing Director, Impact (MDI) is responsible for implementing and overseeing the site’s Whole School Whole Child (WSWC) service model; develop, implement, and monitor the Impact Leadership team to ensure quality delivery of the WSWC service model to partnering Manchester School District (MSD) schools and drive student achievement and ensure a quality experience for our AmeriCorps members; implement the site’s Long Term Impact (LTI) plan to current and future identified schools that align with current MSD feeder patterns. The MDI will cultivate and manage the necessary District, School, AmeriCorps and programmatic partnerships and be responsible for inspiring and leading the Impact staff members in goals and objectives.
Alongside the Executive Director (ED), the MDI will serve as a key external face and voice for the organization’s impact and expertise in the WSWC program outcomes and implications, deepen and cultivate strategic relationships with key stakeholders in the K12 education policy locally and within in the state on the various trends and outcomes for our students in MSD Schools.
Work with site leadership and school district leadership to create a multiyear partnership development, service implementation, and financial plan that defines impact priorities, sets performance goals and provides a roadmap for achieving goals by building Impact team capacity and capabilities in the areas of both district and school partnerships, WSWC knowledge, AmeriCorps Member (ACM) Experience, and Staff and ACM development as well as Learning and Development (L&D).
Develop, establish, and implement the processes that manage how L&D, Evaluation and the site Impact teams will work together to use data to reach site goals. Work with the ED, district leadership and our headquarters leadership to develop district engagement goals and create a district engagement strategic plan both at the district and school levels, for example:
School District Level
• Identify strategic opportunities to strengthen City Year’s work in schools (e.g. District strategy alignment, use of intervention programs, systemic data review options, site visits, district engagement across other departments that don’t manage City Year partnership);
• Assign and/or serve as the City Year relationship managers to key district, city, state individuals/organizations;
• Oversee CY district data sharing agreement in partnership with the Managing Director of Service & Evaluation.
School House Level
• Ensure Impact staff have the coaching and resources required to build effective school relationships;
• Engage schools quarterly in partnership with Impact staff;
• Manage schoolhouse challenges that might escalate;
• Adapt the model where necessary to meet changing conditions and needs.
Qualifications
• Master’s Degree in education field preferred, but at least ten years of experience in management, non-profits, youth work, or education is acceptable.
• Experience and ability to effectively collaborate with principals, assistant principals, and teachers towards student level results in a public school system, preferably within an under-resourced district.
• Minimum of five years of experience in leading, supervising, coaching, teaching, or managing young adults.
• City Year/AmeriCorps/Peace Corps experience is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to work with diverse teams of people.
• Proven organizational, project, and financial management abilities.
• Ability to execute a strategic plan and motivate staff.
• Ability to work as both an independent leader and a team member.
• Highly ethical standards of professionalism and integrity.
• Excellent communication skills and strong writing skills. Proficiency in computer skills (i.e. MS Office).
