This position will be a leadership position and oversee the entire donor team in order to maximize donor engagement. This position will help develop a robust donor strategy to engage the donors of BRB with short term and long term giving, plus provide oversight among the team and donor interactions.
Job Summary
• Directs and coordinates activities related to building and maintaining relationship Donors (individual and business) who share the common goal of growing the ministry of Blue Ridge Broadcasting (BRB) via radio and internet.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide an excellent level of supervision by establishing and improving the functional structure, delegating authority and empowering Ministry Associates through development of their giftedness and decision-making skills.
• Communicates and enforces BRB management decisions by creating a sense of ownership and loyalty to the goals and mission of the organization.
• Responsible for directing the planning, implementation, and administration of all donor programs for BRB, involving individual and business donors from a range of diverse constituencies.
• Design and implement a donor relationship management strategy and program for both individual and business donors, key to which is personal relationship building with individual and business donors.
• Such design and implementation includes recruiting and leading a team of ministry associates who effectively shepherd people toward God’s agenda for advancing His Kingdom.
• Ensure Ministry Associates are effectively oriented and trained.
• Ensure effective organizational communication and provide employees focused growth opportunities.
• Collaborate with the BRB leadership team to maximize donor relationship management.
• Creates a culture of accountability.
• Promotes relationship building and ownership in each task associated with the ministry associates.
• Encourages appropriate risk taking within the mission to serve the ministry’s donors.
• Achieves financial objectives by closely monitoring goals and results of new programs, costs, and by initiating corrective actions when analysis of variances warrants action.
• Schedules expenditures through approval of department and organization-wide budgets, communicates budget to the department.
• Anticipates long-term financial issues and works to empower staff to create innovative solutions and a sense of ownership in both budgetary concerns/problems and their solutions.
• Models effective Christian leadership behaviors by executing an approach to encouraging motivation, resolving concerns through effective, timely, and appropriate communication and problem-solving techniques, praying regularly with and for staff and donors, developing and maintaining relationships with a servant-like character, and by modeling, maintaining, and holding self and others accountable for BRB values.
• Communicates effectively and courteously via phone.
• Creates and maintains effective employee, vendor, and client relationships by providing timely, accurate responses, and service-oriented offers of assistance, and ensuring that messages are transmitted to appropriate personnel quickly and accurately.
• Carries out written communication in a professional manner and according to accepted business practices.
• Uses courteous language and positive tone in all written communications so that anything composed in department reflects a service-oriented philosophy.
• Engage directly in and responsible for relationships with a prescribed number of business donors in order to help further their role in furthering God’s agenda through the ministry.
• Collaborate with General Manager and the finance and administration department to develop annual budget.
• Identifies on a continuous basis individuals and businesses who are prospects for having a heart for the ministries of BRB and may thus support.
• Collaborate with Ministry Associates to plan and direct events and gatherings for donors.
• Participates in the development and implementation of donor relation’s communication pieces and programs.
• Assesses and monitors donor satisfaction with service in cooperation with other members of the executive and management team.
• Follows policies and procedures of BRB and BGEA as set forth in the Policy and Procedure Manual.
• Attends daily morning devotions and participates in prayer support for the ministry, its listeners, donors and volunteers.
• Maintains a strong Christian witness to colleagues, vendors, charitable beneficiaries, and the general public.
• Travel locally and regionally on a regular basis.
• Other duties as assigned by management.
Marginal Duties and Responsibilities
• Represent BRB at listener events. Interface on on-going basis with BRB leadership (Director, General Manager, and Manager of Accounting and Administration) to provide input, observation and opinion on all facets of ministry operations.
• Cooperate and collaborate with BGEA Development Department as needed on specific needs or requests by either BRB or the BGEA.
• Interest in joining organizations or clubs that further the ministry and donor goals of BRB.
Reporting Relationships
• Position reports directly to General Manager.
• Oversee the entire process to hire and develop Donor Ministries department personnel
Job Specifications
Skills and Knowledge
• Bachelors Degree (or equivalent experience) with three to five years experience in developing and managing a Donor Ministries Department.
• Management of a non-profit broadcast underwriter/donor development experience preferred.
• Demonstrative ability in identifying, developing and maintaining relationships with individual and business donors.
• Committed to leading staff and serving donors with a servant’s heart. Excellent verbal and written communicator who excels in ability to make presentations to potential business and individual/donors in a one-on-one or group setting.
• Strong analysis and forecasting abilities. Committed to Christian ethics in all areas of business matters.
• Experience with database, PowerPoint, word processing and spreadsheet software.
• Personal relationship with Jesus Christ and having an active Christian commitment with a theology that supports the mission of Blue Ridge Broadcasting.
• Clean driving record.
