Job Description
KHOU 11, the TEGNA owned CBS affiliate in Houston, Texas is seeking a Producer for our daily talk show, Great Day Houston. This role is responsible for producing daily show segments for our award-winning show. Because Great Day is a live, 1-hour daily talk show, this position requires a dynamic, creative thinker who is also organized and thrives at delivering on tight deadlines. Solid visual and editorial skills are essential. This position also requires ENG photography and editing experience.
The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented, energetic, strategic thinker and team player with a positive attitude. A strong awareness of current events, social media trends and skills with different platforms is essential.
Key responsibilities include:
• Develops, books, produces unique and engaging daily segments for 9am audience
• Writes, proofs and reviews scripts, graphics and other show elements
• Creates daily social media posts based on show materials
• Works with the Executive Producer and Sales Department on client scheduling
• Develops and fosters relationships with clients
• Works as required on other locally produced programming
Job Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree in Communications or related field
• Three (3) to five (5) years producing news and magazine format shows in mid to large markets
• Must be well organized and able to manage multiple assignments simultaneously
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Rundown software experience (preferable ENPS)
• Proficient in Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop and After Effects
• Must have social media knowledge and a digital footprint
• Ability to shoot with a Sony ENG camera is a plus
• Line producing experience desired
