In this role you will work across all of Blackboard’s product lines, ranging from our ever-evolving LMS, Learn, to our student-friendly mobile app, and everything in between. Our Design team helps shape the future of Blackboard’s products. Made up of design leaders who work across both web and mobile platforms and take a hands-on role in a highly collaborative team environment, they champion best-in-class work throughout the Blackboard organization. Our team believes that design is as much about behavior and emotion as it is about usability and utility.
As a Senior Designer on our team, you will be responsible for building visual design explorations, comps, interactive simulations, and product specifications. You will work with other designers and developers to produce and ship products, as well as work within existing brand guidelines while extending these guidelines in new ways.
The Candidate:
• Is knowledgeable about design disciplines and principles
• Is proficient with industry-standard tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Sketch, or any prototyping tools
• Is a strong collaborator and can receive and incorporate critique from peers and stakeholders as well as provide meaningful critique
• Has an outstanding body of work that incorporates design-thinking (or similar) methodologies where people are the center of the solution
• Can handle multiple design projects at different stages of delivery simultaneously without sacrificing quality
• Has an exceptional eye for detail
• Is comfortable participating in projects where acting as a leader might be required
• Has excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
• Is highly organized, motivated, and efficient
• Is a hybrid interaction and visual designer
• Maintains high standards of accountability, owning responsibility around design decisions, timelines, and quality
• A background in user research of other qualitative means to inform designing for the user is a plus
