Job Description
12News, The TEGNA NBC affiliate in Phoenix, AZ is looking for a Broadcast Engineering Supervisor. This position will manage broadcast and facility maintenance staff, information technology staff, and studio operational staff. Manage, maintain, support, and improve broadcast technologies, production and facility maintenance for an award-winning NBC affiliate and multi-channel operations.
Essential Job Functions
• Manage a team which supports KPNX broadcast technologies in a 24/7/365 environment
• Manage the implementation and documentation of capital and special projects
• Manage and maintain the station's compliance with FCC requirements
• Advise and assist in the creation of operational and capital budgets
• Assist in the technical support of critical hardware and software
• Monitor and scrutinize daily on-air technical quality
• Support improved workflows for our on-air and online products
• Conduct performance reviews for staff
• The position reports to the Manager of Technology and Operations.
Job Requirements
Requirements
• Preferred Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of five years’ experience in a broadcast operations/technology management role
• Demonstrated strong leadership, team management, and has excellent written and verbal communication skills
• In-depth knowledge of broadcast technologies including; Transmitters, Antennas, Broadcast Switchers, Router Systems, ENG and DSNG Transmissions, Field Cameras, Signal Path Workflows
• Working knowledge of other technologies including; Camera Robotics Controls, Information Technology Infrastructure, Phone Systems
• Demonstrated strong project management experience
• Ability to work well and make quick decisions under pressure
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule in support of a 24x7x365 operation
