Role Summary: This position provides architecture leadership and governance for our Clinical Key (CK) and ACRES technology organization. This person will create and own the architecture vision and direction of CK and ACRES product portfolio and align with the Elsevier strategic and business objectives. You will work closely with Agile development teams, technology leadership, and other architects in Elsevier, as a mentor, leader, architect, and technologist.
You will be entrusted with guiding ongoing development, contribute to roadmaps, introduce new technologies, and evangelize the direction. The role requires the ability to work across UX, developer, scrum master, management, business/product owner roles, as well as other architects throughout the organization. A combination of strong communication skills and strategic thinking, combined with hands on ability to lead and execute is a must.
Key Responsibilities:
• Establish and contribute to the architecture, technology, and business roadmaps for CK and ACRES
• Plan for the evolution of the Business Unit systems, including the retirement and replacement of existing systems.
• Provide architecture and design for large development or infrastructure engineering efforts.
• As needed, lead and coach a new development team to realize the direction.
• Provide mentoring, consultancy, leadership, and promotion of engineering and architecture best practices.
• Evaluate new technologies and acquisition candidates as required.
• Introduce/train teams on new technology.
• Act as a conduit between Elsevier Architecture and the development teams.
• Work across/with architects from different organizations in and outside Elsevier.
• Assist in the development of comprehensive information security procedures and practices and deployment of a detailed security audit.
• Respond to enterprise security issues, designing and implementing solutions to respond to security incidents.
• Problem-solve, involving leading teams in identifying, researching, and coordinating the resources necessary to effectively troubleshoot/diagnose complex project issues.
• Extract/translate findings into alternatives/solutions, identifying risks/impacts and schedule adjustments to facilitate management decision-making.
• Drive technical direction and architecture evolution via reviews and on-floor leadership.
• Proactively monitor new development to discover subsystems or components that should be evolved into shared services and capabilities
• Proactively research, monitor, learn, and assess industry/technology advancements and continually build alliances to explore ways to leverage and advance Elsevier technology.
Technical Skills:
• Excellent problem-solving experience involving leading teams in identifying, researching, and coordinating the resources necessary to effectively troubleshoot/diagnose complex project issues.
• Architectural design, strong knowledge of architectural governance.
• Knowledge and or experience in the Healthcare industry (payer, provider), including industry standards such as HL7, FHIR, HIPAA, FDA, and other relevant standards.
• Solid working knowledge with multiple distributed system architectures and patterns, such as SOA, micro-services, REST.
• Experience with a plurality of the operating systems: AWS, Windows, Linux
• Experience in multiple programming language(s) such as Node.js, Scala, C#, or others
• Advanced organization/project planning, time management, and change management skills across multiple functional groups and departments, and advanced delegation skills involving prioritizing and reprioritizing projects and managing projects of various size and complexity.
• Innovative and solutions-oriented in new technologies, security, and infrastructure.
